We hope you have enjoyed this preview of some of the new units and content.
Please note that unless stated otherwise, ALL pictures, names, and descriptions shown in our previews are works in progress. We continue to improve on all parts of EB, and we will continue to do so long after our initial release.
Since some areas where these news items are posted cannot handle wide images, we appreciate your restraint from quoting full-size images.
As always, if you have questions or comments, the best place to post them is here, where the EB team is most active:

Europa Barbarorum ORG forum

Europa Barbarorum TWC forum

We give special thanks to Picoodle that provides us with a simple, foolproof, and free way to show you all these pictures each week.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,

The Europa Barbarorum team.

That Imperial Legionary with square shield looks ABSOLUTELY gorgeous.
I can't wait to have my hands on them!

@ Juggernaut: yeah, xprime's work lately has produced some really nice looking units (3 in this preview), including those two Romans. we're excited to have him on the team.

@ KLA: its a new unit, which is probably why you haven't heard about it before, for which most of the design work took place over the last few months. Perhaps we can post the unit descriptions for some of the new units at some point--would y'all consider that a worthy tradeoff? A few less skins, but several unit descriptions for the new guys?

Hey your skins are awesome!

i got two question concernig the upcoming version
1. Will Ai be enabled to retrain?
2. Will there be new animations -such as cavallery holding briddles?

nah- dont like the cohors imperatoria reskin- liked the skin there is now for it (.01av2) better. i also dont lke the new skin for the cohors evocata. but everytihng else is fine.

The reskin wasn't done because we didn't like the old one - it was very nice itself. The reskin was done because there were problems with the equipment/depiction in terms of accuracy, and the member who made them is no longer active with us or RTW modding.

oh- ok. but are you sure you cant remove the plume to the cohors imperatoria? according to ardrian goldsworthy, they removed the plumes on thier helmets by then.
and thier legs look a little chubby. :laughter:
and can you make their sheild a little bigger? they are too small, in my opinion.

Adrian Goldsworthy is usually pretty good and he is probably right, but the point is a bit contentious.

As to the shield... are you mad? That thing is huge.

Shield has correct dimensions and shape in both units. If you don't like those units - this is your private opinion. If you don't like situations when models are realistic (human's shapes) - you shouldn't use my models. For example I don't like bananas...
Thx for objective opinion.

i know, the you were correct about the sheilds. but the plumes- you should see what i wrote over at the .org forums about them in the .org's thread on the new EB units.

Nice Garamantine! I have missed thos Karthadastim Elephantes, will they have javeliners or archers on top? Nice work guys

are you kidding me? i think these units are awesome... except for the plumes. ;)

good job on the legionaries and all the rest...a question though....aren't the legiornaries a bit high poly now? they sure seem so...that will send our FPS to shreds with just a unit of these on screen i guess.... or do they seem high poly, but in fact are Low poly like the ones we have now?

There will be no more 0.8x releases of the build, though we are not sure of what number the next release will be. And it will be ready when its ready.

Yes model is rather high poly but old model had almost 1500polys too.
Shouldn't be problematic in case of FPS.

well, Id like you to find any evidence that they did not wear plumes in this period. Let's see it.

IIRC, horsehair, which i assume the plumes were made out of, does not rot, and no evidence of horsehair was found at the scene of the Teutoberg Forest ambush, where numerous Coolus helmets were found.

I don't know anything about Roman helmet history, but just using my common sense, how can hair not rot? Have you ever seen a skeleton (be it that of a horse or a person) with hair?

I am herenow, you have not been to a cementary for a while, have you?
Trust me... nails and hair actually keep growing after you are buried...

Bohemians the Tomb Robber

PS: Foot... no more 0.8x ? Are we soon getting a EB 1.0 ??? ;)

Oh, well, that's not true. As the body dehydrates the skin around the nails and hair "shrink" giving the impression of growth.

When you die, all biological functions reach equilibrium, which means your dead and nothing happens besides decomposition.

I'm not new to the forums or to Total war. The Cohors Evocota have to be the best skins that I have ever seen in this game as of yet. I don't usually give compliments , but this time I have to make an exception, Awesome work!

yes, i actually have. my class a few years ago was studying the decomposition of bodies, and there was hair on the body, even after it finished decomposition.
