It is structured like a greek tragedy, so yes, good in my book ^^
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
Meh, everything's too cliché in this one.
The villain is cliché.
The hero is cliché.
The plot is cliché.
Nothing new, exciting or original.
Starts with Mankind was dumb and ends up with Mankind is Great!
Furiosa
Formulaic.
Same explosions, same stunts, same characters.
Visually stunning but lacking in storytelling.
Lord of Misrule (2023)
There are pretty messed-up people and messed-up things happening.
^Only one I knew of those was Hagi, due to the 1994 WC when I was supporting Romania
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
The stakes feel higher when there's no demon to blame.
Fall (2022)
Some bits were nice, and others were crap.
How was she saved? Holding onto a rope ladder from a helicopter?
Hit Man (2023)
The start was not the best for me but overally the story was compelling and there were good performances.
The Strangers: Chapter ONE
Worst horror movie I've seen in a while.
No originality, no novelty & no ingenuity.
Same idiots from the first one, masked or unmasked, still idiots.
Also, I got nothing against clichés but at least TRY to be original about it, you know?
Haha, they do, don't they?!
The Watchers
Look, I really, really, really wanted to like this one buut...
amazing cinematography aside, I can safely say that after being spoon-fed info-dump of Irish Mythology for an hour, I just find this movie to be:
boring & formulaic.
Also, nonsensical at some points.
But hey, look on the bright side! Shyamalan's brood shows some promise.
Kubi (2023)
Samurai, in a realistic light.
This film shows them as they really were:
sadistic, darkly humorous and quite mad.
Takeshi is back in style.
