It was really annoying me how Armoured Hoplites could whoop Royal Pikemen like nothing
But since I got this mod, it feels nice to be able to crush a group of Spartan hoplites with fresh Levy Pikes

HACKING INTO THE MAINFRAME!!!
It’s been a long time since I played the first RTR back in the day. Then, I was fortunate rnough to stumble across it after it was fairly far along in development.
Since that is not the case with RTR:IS, I was wondering: if I begin a campaign, will I be able to contact nue playing it as the mod has new releases or will it get FUBAR when the game updates?

Hello, I am a RS player since the beginning. I played my last game with RS last week when my computer gave up his life and I had to switch to Imperium Surrectum.
Much has changed! But you still claim to produce a historical mod, at least as close as possible to historical events. That's my type of mods.
Here are my first impression of your new Mod:
I am impressed by what your team has accomplished and probably will play the mod for sometime to come. However, my biggest problem is with Campaign Map (Ocean reflection of units and other objects on land is somewhat over the top and a unnecessary distraction). I live at the ocean and have never seen any reflection. The demarcation between the provinces is too thick and adds to the clutter already on the map. The "so called" trees look like cigar stumps and are redundant, unless you want to make a fantasy mod.
I feel the economy is not properly balanced and would like to tweak the unit and building files to project more realistic events - can someone tell me how to access these files?
Otherwise very a nice mod with a lot of potential.

Thanks for the post! A lot is in beta and early stages, we are far from a completed state. A for lighting, Remastered allows you to toggle lighting to your preference, so mess around with those scalers in the settings to get it to how you want. Trees will be better.
Economy and balance will be better as well.
I suggest joining our discord so you can post more feedback and stay in the loop!

Hello friend, that was fast - thank you. I joint the Discord, but be somewhat lost there. It's all a bit confusing for me - mind you that I am already 87 years old and have trouble following these new developments. Your game is my hobby - play it every day. Thank you! Can you kindly point me to the unit and building files, I like to see what you gentlemen changed.
Cheers from California
Thanks for playing and enjoying it as your hobby!

@Fridericus-Rex. Respect, Sir. I know where you are coming from there, & I am a couple of decades younger than your good self!

Hello Ballacraine: It's good to know that there are more people of my generation around here. Felt somewhat lonely!! I liked (in Rome I) to adapt the economy to my playing style. Now, with steam involved I can not find the pass to the files ahowl11 suggested. I don not want to change the recommended mod files - are they specific for the mod or when installed specific for the player? I hope you enjoy the mod as I do.
Cheers!
The latest Rome Remastered update is almost everything I always dreamt of having regarding modability of the game! I haven't been so hyped in a long time. Right now RTR: Roma Surrectum is the most ambitious project for this game. I'm sure you guys will do a great job

Thank you, Maurits. That is all I needed. I will not change anything for the time being - the stats are close to DVKs and the one I played with. In the mod, I wish Rome had more money at the beginning. Historically, troops were cheaper at that time. They could build more armies quickly after defeats. Economically, there were struggling like others, that's correct.
Great mod - thank you to all of you.
I am extremely sorry, but I lost the game. Rome Remastered does not open - get an error message: Q:\Feral\Steam\Workshop\2487698001/data/descr_cultures.txt Column1, line 16 "cultures"
I tried the other forum, but no response.
Can somebody help?

Thanks! This is only the beginning - much and much more and better balancing is to come in future updates
I've responded in the bugs and issues thread with a solution for your problem. We do not respond as quickly here as on our Discord server, you might wish to check it out if you feel up to it: https://discord.gg/8VQTnBSM8t

I' like to drop a short comment: I find discord very fluid - you see stuff once and then it's getting buried in the long thread you will never read. The TWC style on a webpage is much more accessible to me (and maybe some other players), it's easy to provide links to the previously published material, and you can use Google-search for older stuff. So anytime you post some news here on TWC (like info on version 0.3.0), it is much appreciated!
cheers

If you want to play a historical mod in the medieval setting the best are:
Stainless Steel Historical Improvement Project and Broken Crescent.
Recently, Tsardoms and TGC look also very good. Read my opinions on the other mods here.
..............................................................................................................................................................................
Reviews of the mods (all made in 2018): SSHIP, Wrath of the Norsemen, Broken Crescent.
Follow home rules for playing a game without exploiting the M2TW engine deficiencies.
Hints for Medieval 2 moders: forts, merchants, AT-NGB bug, trade fleets.
Thrones of Britannia: review, opinion on the battles, ideas for modding. Shieldwall is promising!
Dominant strategy in Rome2, Attila, ToB and Troy: “Sniping groups of armies”. Still there, alas!
True, but it's excruciatingly slow in terms of loading times, that's why almost all direct interaction and discussion has moved over to discord in the past years. We do maintain a presence here, though, because as you rightly point out TWC remains useful to store release notes, instructions, etc

Hello, I must agree with Jurand. Discord is confusing and I do not find my way around there. I will stick around here since I can get a fast answer here.
I got the original TWR Remastered going, installed everything 2 times. But now I can not find our Mod - not in Library or in Workshop.
Where can I download the Mod? A pointer is well appreciated.
Saul - Thank you for the tip. I like to download this updated version, but exactly where? I am an old physician not a computer specialist.

Hello All,
I got my game back. Mod and everything. while I enjoyed Rome I because of it's simplicity - now, I have to get use to some new stuff.
Personal problems: in battle - the units do not follow the direction, particularly when grouped. The large information "ball" for each unit is distracting. Campaign Map is too dark - maybe as it was at the beginning of time.
Otherwise, hard/hard is very enjoyable. Thank you very much for the help you have given me.

Glad you found it! If you open graphical options, there is a campaign-map post-effect slider, putting it to '0' and fiddling around with some of the other settings should help. We hope to resolve this issue in an upcoming second hotfix patch. As for the battle UI and controls, much has changed, but on the right of the screen there is an arrow you can click which will bring up a menu. That allows to change it somewhat to your own preferences!
