So the new law passed in China bans all negative content online. This law could be used to censor information regarding the coronavirus.
Funny, given how Facebook is doing the exact thing that China is doing right now and promises to ban prepper content for "spreading panic". Clearly if it gets really bad and people get hurt because there is not enough supplies, because not enough people prepared - Facebook would be to blame for that as well.
Funny how you manage to come up with ridiculous comparisons like that. A privately run media corporation that is entitled to make it's own rules (or forced by government to do so) against the legal apparatus of a nation that makes binding laws that actually will effect people beyond not being able to post their daily dose of verbal diarrhea.
-----------
As to the actual implementation of that law:
No half measures here, simply can't have the national unity destroyed. Some people have to be forced to be nice, especially in the event of a natural calamity. Miranda fittingly commented on it all those years ago:
O wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't.

Fingers crossed fellas. Fingers crossed.
Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII
Cause tomorrow is a brand-new day
And tomorrow you'll be on your way
Don't give a damn about what other people say
Because tomorrow is a brand-new day

It'd be real ironic if Iran gets the reform it needs because coronavirus kills the majority of their leadership.

We seem to be off and running in Australia, a couple of local transmissions now so its highly likely the spread will increase. One newspaper has been attempting to start panic buying of supplies (I got a few things last week, don't I feel smart).
In the book they contracted into Festung Palestina with full civic rights for Palestinians and closed all the settlements down and lalala everyone was happy, sort of Camp David 2 w/zombies. Slow zombies meant low concrete barriers were effective.
In the film they built Minas Tirithalem (in a day?) and then sang themselves to death. It was the old war movie trope, they were fat and jolly, they never stood a chance. Like the athlete soldier (bound to lose his legs) or the black guy and the southern racist (who bond over a landmine or a scorpion or some **** and then die defending each other). Those sexy Israeli soldiers, I mean could go either way. Either one will die saving Sumskilz and she'll whisper she always loved him as she fades away, or he will perve on her in the shower and the werewolf will get them both.

Ah yes, the white knighting for de-facto publishers never ends (until they start censoring opinions you actually agree with).
Although in this case, it isn't political opinions, it is useful and potentially life-saving information that is being censored by the elitist silicon valley lunatics.
Ah yes, globalists cheering for deaths of thousands of innocent people just so it could potentially result with a death of an Iranian politician they don't like. Classy as usual.

I am merely amused on how you manage to make the comparison, given the basics of the two components you compare. Irrelevant name labeling isn't going to improve on that. You are aware that it's simply a big pot of whataboutism you are trying to cook here, yes?
And you may have just gotten muddled up anyhow - at least I am not aware that Facebook is censoring info (negative or otherwise) pertaining directly to the virus - surely you are eager to provide me with actual info on your claim?. I do take it that's what the 'silicon valley' label is about?
Even if misleading or potentially inflammatory info is removed by Facebook it's still in stark contrast to the actual law that got passed in China which is extremely vague and thereby allows suppression of any news (true or false) that does not conform to party guidelines, not to forget the associated penalties. Which is basically rubber stamping what is happening already.
How on earth is that comparing to what Facebook does? Given the number of deaths and grieve caused by unfounded social media hysteria, be it intentional or not, I would be glad if a sensible way could be found to prevent that happening (how's that for white knighting your assorted labels?).
You know, like unsupported claims that Facebook is suppressing life saving information.
What does a virus that is potentially working its way through the corrupt theocratic government in Tehran have to do with the US or waging war?

Well that’s one way, sure. It’s also the best one can hope for given the virus is spreading in Iran regardless of what anyone thinks, and the government there is following the same old cover up/downplay/blame “enemies” playbook that got the CCP into hot water with its constituents. With a little luck, maybe Xi Jinping will mysteriously “retire” as well. Rumor is he has health problems already. Lack of any succession plan FTW.
