I do hope Cavalry will be stronger in the vein of Medieval 2, and not purely rock-paper-scissor based as in Rome 2 or Attila.

Correct, but Danes inhabitated all of Denmark and some parts of Southern Sveden, so it just feels weird to have one danish kingdom represented and not the rest.

I can't wait. I really want to play as Avars and Moors/Saracens.

Moors won't be present in the game. I'm afraid that Morocco and the entire North Africa have been excluded from the game, but I hope that at least one muslim faction (the Omayyad Caliphate of Cordoba) will be playable from the start.

Not important but The river (Seine) outside to Paris, why? Why they do that (simple geographical matters). Sorry for my bad English.

Cool DLC... Now when are we going to see an improved siege AI? When will it be on par to RTW's siege AI, or better? How come a game CA developed 10 years ago has better siege AI than the current ones?

    My guesses are for these:
Avars, Caliphate of Cordoba, Franks, Lombards, Saxons, Danes, some Anglo-Saxon, one Slavic one or another Germanic
I'm not sure why they'd spend manpower hours to build a unique Byzantine roster and leave it out of the playable part of the game. With the Franks, the Lombards and, depending on what the Saxons look like, I don't think they're missing Germanic factions. I'm not even convinced the Saxons will be in over Asturias.

I'm Cordoba would have been considered moors. From wikipedia "The Moors were Muslim inhabitants of the Maghreb, the Iberian Peninsula, Sicily, and Malta during the Middle Ages "

Is there more to this than new units and new starting position?

Its not weird. Same can be said about Poland with just Velets and Oborites. Map just dont go to Sweden as it dont go to eastern Poland.

Croatia is on map, if a playable faction you don't need anything more slavocentric inmho.
Duchy of Croatia in my Total War?! Oh I can't wait for factions unlocker mod!

    I'm thinking.

    Chalremagne
    Wessex
    Saxons
    Byzantium (sicily/venice)
    Cordoba (Saracens)
    Lombardi
    Irish (or another Celtic faction)
    Avars (or another Slavic faction)
I find it extremely unlikely they'll have Avars over any Slavic faction.

    Here's my prediction.

    1. Kingdom of Charles
    2. Kingdom of Carloman
    3. Ummayad Caliphate
    4. Mercia (Mercian hegemony during this era)
    5. Lombard Kingdom
    6. Asturias
    7. Byzantine Empire
    8. Danes (gotta have them Vikings)

Not certain about Asturias though. I do hope that it makes it in, but eight factions is actually quite a limit. So either Asturias, Avars, or Continental Saxons (probably Widukind's kingdom).

There is also a chance that instead of Mercia, it will be Wessex or Northumbria (leaning towards Wessex, if only for Alfred the Great's legacy).

Regarding Byzantines or one of their provincial governments, too many Helenophiles have their made voices known here for them to at least have some of their empire playable.

For those concerned over lack of playable factions, there will probably an all faction unlock mod out soon after release so I wouldn't be overly worried if your desired faction isn't playable. Of course if it isn't on the map to begin with then that's a problem but still.

    Valuable input.

I'd prefer Wessex over Mercia tbh, if only for the connection to Alfred the Cake.

ROFL. Funny to see that the majority of asinine predictions made about this DLC, from its release date to what it would entail, were flat out WRONG.

Going to be a great DLC. Good to see the Slavs aren't over represented, as they weren't really important in world history.

I think if I was a king I'd go for 'the cake' over 'the great' any day.

It's a real toss-up. Northumbria would also be a contender, but Northumbria just lost its hegemonic status and the powerful Kingdom of Bernicia was no more.

Wessex would be the most prestigious but it really wouldn't ascend until the next century, where it was given its perfect opportunity against the Danes.
