So what brings you to good old Denton? Gotta love that I-35 traffic...

Holy ! I got my BA in History with Secondary Education at UNT. I first went there for music because for years that was what I spent most of my time with and I'm a talented musician (I play the bass trombone, tuba, and euphonium). However, talent does not equal dedication and determination and after about a year I figured out that I did not want to spend my life as a musician. I also learned what it was like to be away from the parents and do what I wanted. Basically in my first year I played ping pong all the time, got really good at it, but didn't go to my classes and failed everything.

Later I switched my major to history and like it a lot more. My GPA began to soar. Then I thought it'd be a good idea to become a teacher because I like kids, like educating, and had been told for a long time that teaching was not only a noble pursuit, but one that was always available. Once I graduated, however, the school districts were firing teachers left and right. So, for the last three years or so I've been trying to find myself a teaching job.

This is...weird what we're learning about each other. And yeah, the traffic is always horrible.

The world is a small place indeed. I got a BA in History and German, with a minor in Asian Studies. I was initially also thinking about getting the teaching thing, but upon realizing the extra time this would take (for only little money in return), I decided not to do it. Being from a family of teachers, however, I knew that I wanted to go the academic route. This is why I am currently pursuing my PhD in Korean Studies.

So I suppose we probably had many of the same professors. Nay, we might even have been in the same class at one point or another. My main professor was Dr. Tanner (Chinese history). However, I also took courses with Dr. Lane, Dr. Johnson, Dr. Campbell, and others (also had to take that stupid Texas History course).
