    Yes it worked, but what you are saying is, right after the end of an entrie I have to add a space?
    Because I did that in the EDU, but i'm not sure of how would that work in the modeldb file.

    At the end of each line in the modelDB file there should be a <SPACE>
    As far as I know it helps with the processing.

    What I want is to be able to train other factions units when you conquer settlements. Also when a faction is completely destroyed you will still be able to train their units.

    I have come this far:

    1. changend EDB file so that the only requirement to train a unit is that you need to own specific regions (read: hidden resource).
    2. changed EDU file so that all units can be owned by all factions.
    3. Exchanged all the unit cards and unit info for all factions.

    The only thing that remains is giving all units textures for the battlefield. Therefore the battle_models file needs to be edited. But that is a ton of work when you have to do that for all the units. I would like to do it faster

    Does anyone have experience with this?

    If you give the mercenary_unit attribute in the EDU then you only will nee the texture for the merc entry (one fits all). You will then also only need the info and unit pic in the merc folders. EDB still needs all factions to be entered that may recruit that unit.

    Your point 1 is actually the widely used AoR principle for units.

    took a while before I could give it a try.

    EDU changed, all units are mercenaries now.
    EDB changed, only requirement to train a unit is to own a region. See attached file.

    the only thing to do is editing the battle_models. You said 'one fits all', can you give an example for this?
    I find the battle_models quite complicated.

    One fits all - if the mercenary_unit attribute is applied then the unit will take it's info and unit pic from the 'merc' folders instead from the faction folders (eg ui\unit_info\merc).

    Yes, I understand. I have all the unit pics and info.
    but when starting a battle all units are silver surfers, except the ones who where already AOR units.
    How can I solve that problem? I guess adjusting the battle_models file..

    Does the modelDB have a 'merc' entry for the unit's main texture and attachment? That is the one the texture will be taken from.

    but even after i followed all the instruction, my sherwood still looks like a metal doll..

    The Thane swordsmen already belonged to slave faction, i think the problem is releated to the general who makes ambush on the strat map but i don't know why.

    Hey people, sorry for the total newbie question - I used the unpacker and can't find those export_descr files, nor the model one. Using WIN8, Gold edition MTW2. Haven't installed the Kindgoms expansions though. What am I missing?

    Do you have permission to view hidden files?
    Did you install the game in Program Files (x86)?
    Do you still have the UAC enabled?
    Have you unhid all files, folders, and drives in Folder Options?

    Hey Irishron, thanks for the quick reply. Everything checks - I'm the sole user and administrator on this machine. Unhid all but system files (strange files appear on the desktop when you do). Reinstalled the game run the unpacker again. Same old.

    Can you provide an folder path inside the MTW2 folder? Data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign? Or where?

    Remember the game is made with Visual Studio 2005 so think XP then adapt to Win 8.

    On Vista, they were hidden in users\username\appdata\virtual store and later roaming and farther down the tree you'll have to check them.
    On Win 7, .....\roaming.
    On Win 8, one member reported finding his in Documents and Settings.

    You may have to use the Search function in the top right corner of Computer to find them.

    Do yourself a favor and disable the UAC in the registry first.

    If you have used my tutorial then the files are in C:\Unpack

    Search your computer for the descr_banners_new.xml file - that might help.

    Hi guys, I am trying to add lancers to HRE. I noticed in stainless steel 6.3 the lancer unit card in data/ui/units is missing (in france folder) although the lancer unit info card is available in the data/ui/units_info.

    In my game i can build lancers now while playing as HRE, but in the campaign mode when I'm trying to recruit them, they look like peasants with short daggers--i.e. their unit card in the citadel shows a peasant...not a lancer...LOL...
