This is a review? Do you want us to review the last movie we saw?

The last movie I saw was Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. It was excellent for an animated movie. I am a Batman fan, so my bias doesn't help

Before that I watched Drag Me To Hell, which is still one of the best and most refreshing horror movies to come out in years.

And prior to that, I watched Dr. Strangelove, which has a more complete review in my review thread. I suggest you click on the link in my sig, or the thread in this subforum if you want to read that review.

    Default Last film you saw

As a follow up to the What are you reading? and What are you listening to? threads I thought it would be nice to do the same with films.

Just finished watching The Apartment. Quite funny and touching film, with darker themes than you might expect.

    Who's next?

I really quite enjoyed that movie, I especially liked the influence of Lovecraft novels on it - a very haunting film.

I just read your review, pretty decent, and refreshing considering you didn't let on to half the plot in doing so - which is one of the best parts of the film, the ending was especially unnerving.

I try not to spoil any of the movies I review. At least not too much. What I give out is stuff you would read on the back of the movie. At least that is my aim. I try to point out the strengths of each film, and why you should watch the movie.

    Just saw Chinatown.
Great film, both the way it looks and the story.
    Definite recommendation

just watched Watchmen.....and I have to say, I was not expecting ANYTHING like this. A superhero hollywood movie with a very good visual effect director.
I was only expecting unnecessary action....but what I saw was PURE CINEMATIC ART. Amazing.
"Therefore I am not in favour of raising any dogmatic banner. On the contrary, we must try to help the dogmatists to clarify their propositions for themselves. Thus, communism, in particular, is a dogmatic abstraction; in which connection, however, I am not thinking of some imaginary and possible communism, but actually existing communism as taught by Cabet, Dézamy, Weitling, etc. This communism is itself only a special expression of the humanistic principle, an expression which is still infected by its antithesis – the private system. Hence the abolition of private property and communism are by no means identical, and it is not accidental but inevitable that communism has seen other socialist doctrines – such as those of Fourier, Proudhon, etc. – arising to confront it because it is itself only a special, one-sided realisation of the socialist principle."

Really? The Watchmen was garbage. Raped the story. Failed to actually try and push any boundaries. The acting was awful for the most part. And the totally punished me by degraded Leonard Cohen's marvelous song 'Hallelujah' during that simply atrocious sex scene. I will never forgive the movie for the rape of that song.

That movie was as artistic as '300.' Which is to say it was a visual orgasm. But beyond that lacked any real emotional depth.

Zombieland - the new Shaun of the Dead, imo, amazing film.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

2/3 of Blue Powder, miserably bad movie, but Jessica Biel's strip scene was very...compelling.

I actually like that film very much.
It's nice to see superheroes that are at least a bit human, sure Dr. Manhattan isn't but the rest.

Across the Hall, terrible plot-holes in that script(why is this always?), but overall fine acting, nice screenplay, and atmospheric music.
