Thanks, yea figured there would be 4k, but steamhosted pics I saw earlier show up as 1080p for my browser atleast. The ones I uploaded to IBB, if ya open to new tab they are full resolution.

Edit: yea looks like there was steamhosted 4k too.. namely yours, heh.

Jolly good. We don't see much naval action around tbh, so it's a nice change.

    Nice shot, Icarus Smicarus.
Found my old one. This Legionnaire is clearly tired of the ongoing battles. It's like he's telling me: buddy, end the wars, let us rest and enjoy the women and the wine.) He does not pay attention even to the arrows flying next to him. Took him on my avatar. He served Rome well.)

Nice shots to the both of you!

Here's a little battle from my own Roman conquest of Hispania.

My faction heir's army was isolated and attacked by an elite enemy force near the Lusitanian capital. Seeing the danger, I retreated and took up positions across a river crossing.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The elite lustianian heavy infantry faces a hail of pila during the second crossing attempt. (The first was a wave of skirmishers, who got basically annihilated by my velites.)

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Opposing the enemy was a thin line of hastati, backed up with a unit of trarii in reserves. The rest of the army given flanking duties in an attempt to separate the crossing force from their reinforcements.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
However, I gravely underestimated the strength of these elite units, and combined with the withering javelin and slinger barrage. my hastati line was cut down with ease.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
It was now up to the Trarii and my faction heir alone to hold the line.

(apologies for the presence of that damn adviser on these last three, got too caught up in the action to notice.)

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Alas, my flanking force was too long delayed by the forces across the river. My general ended up getting cut down by the Lustianian heavy Calvary. The rest of my men however, were resolved not to let anyone back across the river alive.

Ended up losing this battle when the enemy reinforcements flanked my flankers in turn, but at least we got their general .

    Hey guys
Here are a few screens from a battle against the averni in myrome campaign(H/H) in Southern Provincia - it really shows how to outcome of a battle can hinge on just a few units holding their ground allowing the rest to trap an opponent and utterly destroy him.

The Arverni had just declared war having sensed weakness inthe aftermath of my war with massalia and sent their two more fearsome armies to destroy me before I had recovered, men who had been fighting long campaigns against rival tribes and were brimming with experience. Unit upon unit of oathsword and kingetoi each with 4/5 chevrons made for a terrifying prospect, my only hope for victory was to rout them without having to fight them

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I take up position on a hill and spread by battle lines very thin with the hope that I can encircle the enemy armies and destroy them simultaneously

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Noticing the apparent weakness of my line the averni mass all their warriors and attack the centre with the aim of cutting my lines in two, my hope lies with a thin but long line of massilian hoplites three ranks deep

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
the line just about holds and i begin to wheel the roman heavy infantry on my flanks around to begin encircling the enemy

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
my line of hoplites begins to buckle but holds, giving my flanking force time to deliver the coup de grace

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
most of the gauls begin to flee, recognising their impending doom, those who stand and fight are trapped and cut to pieces, I sweep my cavalry in to ensure that neither will be leaving the battlefield alive

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
the cavalry get to work annhilating the infantry, no mercy is shown

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The result: a resounding victory for the republic, the arverni are unable to launch a full assault for the next several years and the border is safe for now...

I only discovered this by accident in a battle before, but it's the only way I can defeat these barbarians in melee due to their bloated stats on hard difficulty

as cheap as it looks this was on the back of getting my arse kicked and if I lost it would have been game over
also compact formation of hoplites vs. 40 units of oathsworn = death
