Welf D'Este , was the son of the previous Welf , duke of Bavaria, but unfortunately his estates are held by his uncle , Hermann. There was a lot of friction between the two , as the younger son , now has come of age and wishes to inherit the lands, but the recent appointee , Hermann doesn't want to give up his power. The current Duke , wishes to avoid unpleasantries , just as he has returned from the marriage of the emperors daughter , and orders the rebellious nephew to "govern" Palma , Bavaria's current province in Italy , where it will keep the young man occupied , and perhaps train him , for further use for the Bavarian state. It will additionally keep him away from there current capital and powerbase at this time. The young Welf , takes his companions and avoiding the now "friendly" fort of swabians and rides southwards to his new estates , eager to be free of his uncle's influence.

There was a brisk morning. The sunshine lazily began to light the chambers of Prince Wladyslaw. The Prince was awakened by radiation, which brightened the prince's face. He slowly got up from the bed. He stood up and walked to the shutter. He looked at the beautiful view of the city of Cracow. He loved this city. Here his brother was crowned to king, and now it is time for him. The misty mint wrapped the streets of the town, which slowly began to fill up with people. His meditations ended when he heard a loud voice from the door.


-> Prince, can I prepare prince for the ceremony?


-> Enter, Soul - Wladyslaw invited the servant.


The door opened, and the servant held a long purple robe in his hand, with many golden gilts. More servants brought buckets with hot waters.


-> How is the Duchess Judith with children? - asked the future king to the soul.


-> The princess was not asleep and she is ready, even the firstborn with his wife also. Prince Zbigniew waits before cathedral and watches royal insignia along with his retinue.

The prince bathed and after an hour he was dressed. The coronation robe, at the waist of the sword, his brother. He went alone to the cathedral. As they went down the street, the people began to throw flowers on their side with shouting:

Wladyslaw looked at the joyful faces of the common people, but he majestically pushed forward. When they reached the cathedral, the gates were closed. Prince Władysław was standing in front of the big door, and suddenly starts belling. Puffed for a few minutes and suddenly stopped. There was a clear silence. Then was coming voice of the Archbishop of Gniezno

The gate was open, and the prince saw the courtiers, the dignitaries, the knights, their squad, the priests, the family standing in the cathedral and the watch waiting for the prince. In the middle of the altar was Archbishop Peter, and the royal insignia was next to him: crown and scepter. The insignia rests on a large maroon pillow, a cushion on an oak chair without a backrest.


Wladyslaw slowly walked to the altar with accompaniment of the choir. When the prince reached the altar, his wife, Judith stood up and gave him a hand. Ladislaus grasped her fingers gently and led them to the altar. Together they knelt before the archbishop on the stone stairs.


- Grace is the moment when the curse thrown on Poland turns into a blessing. Grace is a witness of unity of Poland. Poland is getting up from her knees. - Archbishop Peter's voice was very loudly. The Archbishop reveals himself to the future kings - Are you pledging fidelity to our homeland? Do you want to defend him to the last breath and the last drop of blood? Will you apply law and justice to the great and the small? Do you swear to keep only one, true faith among Kingdom of Poland?


-> I swear - Wladyslaw said loudly, similar to archbishop.


The archbishop took crown, covered with precious stones and put on the head of the prince.


-> Crown have a great burdens. Let the weight resting on your head forever remind you about the great responsibility of rulling.


The archbishop put a smaller crown on the head of Princess Judy.


-> May God protect and guard. Bless and add strength when you are short of it, let the wisdom and patience in the time of evil and perverse.


The archbishop returned to ceremonial chair and raised scepter.


-> May the scepter always remind you about that you are the greatest execiutoner of law and freedom, but not for your glory, but for the glory of the Poland, thus glory for the only Lord.


When Władysław got his last insignia, the archbishop shouted:

-> Here is the king of Poland, Władysław I Herman, first of his name, from the Piast family and his queen Judyta Przemyslidowna.


The royal couple stood up and turned to the gathered. There were loud cheers, psalms of thanksgiving sung by the choirs at the accompaniment ringing bells. A royal pair wa passing the cathedral to show themselves to a simple people. Just before the exit, the loud and cheerful shouts of the people came to them. They stood on the stairs in front of the cathedral, and Wladyslaw stretched out of the scabbard sword of his brother outlaw. Sunlight and flower petals are covered and reflected on the royal couple. Here comes the glory of the Kingdom of Poland.

The first, Robert informed him that the engineers would soon begin construction of the siege engines that would soon bring Smyrna to its knees. Robert then inquired about the marriage negotiations Roger replied “they are in good stead my sister shall be married in the year.” Roberts’s brother who had taken a seat and was in his first cup of ale gave him a clap on the shoulder and said “now we just need to find you a wife roger.” Robert grunted in approval at that although roger felt a wife might only slow down his conquests. Although what were his conquests without someone to give them to.
