    Not terribly surprising as the Higgs Boson has been well verified at this point and is more than worthy of the prize.

    It is a bit of a surprise that there wasn't a third person awarded (the prize can be split a maximum of three ways for the same discovery) as the development of the Higgs field theory was done by several groups.
