There is a file that defines the factions that use one liners in battle - which most of the time results in them not speaking at all. I haven't modified any of the sounds files (at least not knowingly), so I will have to look deeper into this.
Edit: it's descr_sounds_db and it seems to be updated:
<SoundDB>
<OneLiners>
<Faction>scotland</Faction>
<Faction>mongols</Faction>
<Faction>russia</Faction>
<Faction>poland</Faction>
<Faction>hungary</Faction>
<Faction>timurids</Faction>
<Faction>aztecs</Faction>
<Faction>moors</Faction>
<Faction>egypt</Faction>
<Faction>denmark</Faction>
<Faction>poland</Faction>
<Faction>hungary</Faction>
<Faction>norway</Faction>
<Faction>lithuania</Faction>
<Faction>teutonic_order</Faction>
<Faction>novgorod</Faction>
<Faction>kalmar_union</Faction>
<Faction>slave</Faction>
</OneLiners>
</SoundDB>
So does that mean that its intentional that it does that? If so is there any easy way to change it so they can speak about the Walls falling - Generals dying - 50 percent men are dead...etc
All other sound works great...There is music all the time on the campaign map...and battle sounds are all there as well...just the whole adviser guy who talks and general speeches are gone...
And I assume the patch is suppose to install into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war
Or does it actually go into the Call of Warhammer folder?

I don't think it is intentional, probably just some sound files like
The installer needs to point to the "medieval ii total war" folder - not the actual mod's folder. The regular installation (non steam) automatically points to the main directory as it reads that entry from the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\AppPath). I am not sure, but I believe that entry in the steam version is not correct?
Sound files like what?
Anyways...
This is the default path for the patch installer
c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war
Which is were I installed the patch...I assume thats correct right? If so I can live without hearing the battle adviser and what not...It is not a huge deal and unless it can be fixed without much effort or what not it's really not worth wasting time upon when other people have much bigger problems then I with this mod...
BTW I have to say yet again AMAZING job! I have not had ONE CTD through many MANY battles and almost 30 turns...Simply amazing how you turn this mod crashing on every other turn and battle into a mod I dare say just as stable as Third Age Total War if not more so for Steam!
Ouups, got distracted while searching for the file(s): export_descr_sounds_prebattle is the one where traits get associated with speeches.
Is your adviser simply not speaking when you have set him to 'vocal'? Check if he isn't set to 'mute'.
Reassuring to hear that the registry entry of the installer works with the steam version as well.
I think sharing knowledge is something essential - if it is by improving something worthwhile and enjoyable for others, then I met my goal.
UPDATE
I corrected the family tree entry for the Orcs, they were basically 'immortal' because they had no family tree but had no special faction either. This resulted in them remaining in the diplomacy screen, receiving their king's purse (messing up the statistics screen) even if they had no living character or a settlement.
Check the second post for the update (descr_sm_factions)
UPDATE
I took pity on the lone White Elves fleet in the Sea of Claws. Apparently it has been trying to reach 'Elvenfort in Norsca' since time immemorial. This is due to the two water bodies having the same RGB code in map_regions.
In 'Vanilla' different shades of the color have been used to avoid just this situation, also to circumvent the invasion calculation of the AI of sea regions if the regions are bordering on not connected water bodies. The lake to the far South has also a different shade now.
Check post #2 for the download.

UPDATE
I got tired squinting to see where the settlements are in the fog of war and to whom they belong. Enlarged the symbol size and reworked the symbols.
As usual this can be found in the second post.

UPDATE
I have put a torrent link (The Pirate Bay) at the bottom of the first post. This is the first time I have created a torrent, so feedback, tips and other encouragements are welcome.I am crossing my fingers that it goes well as I am on a dynamic IP.
Just checked: my upload speed for seeding isn't the best and maxes out at 50KB\sec - hopefully this will not take too long.Please give feedback about the torrent - it's my very first one!

Just in case someone wonders: my username wasn't available at TPB - so I had to settle for a slightly different one (Gargantus)
Hmmm not to beat a dead horse but...I noticed I do not even have a Battle Adviser when I fight(hes not where he usually is top left part of the screen)...so there is no way I could actually mute / unmute to hear him say things like "we've lost half our men!"
Has anyone else encountered this problem at all? Or do you still hear all the generals speeches and what not from battle?
this rocks i play all night and not even one crash!!!! not one...( this shoud be the main downlode ) I thank you my good man ............let the warparty start
