Unfortunately we only use authentic medieval music written in the Middle Ages. Enslaved's albums Vikingr Veldi and Frost piss all over this though. This sounds like Flogging Molly with keyboards

It wont get good before 1 minute into the song, but yeah its a little pirates of the carribeanish
Are Two steps from Hell counted as Black Metal? Heard the name before but not the music, I'm a bit out of the picture being 33.... when I was a kid it was all Burzum and Darkthrone!
Naah, It is more like movie-theme songs, not black metal at all
This is Metal!!
I've found really nice music that I think fits very well. It starts at 0:28
Do you think you will use this one?
Enchanting. I hope no repost :p
I recommend checking out the material of TENHI. Very atmospheric. (Finnish)

I am very aware that the song is about war, but the difference, atleast for me, is that it's still from Astrid Lindgren, and doesn't belong in such a "serious" setting as Total War.
And yes the song is good, im not denying that, but it would just be weird to hear it ingame.
But this doesn't matter, I trust the team to do the right decision no matter what I or anyone else think about it.
It might be an immersion breaker for Scandinavian players, however. For some of us it would be like suddenly hearing something from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack in the middle of a battle, it would just feel very out of place.
Sweden has a few bands that uses medieval instruments. Check out the band called Patrask. You might find something to use in game. A few months ago you could download all of their music for free from their site but it seems like it's down. They have a quite varied sound and you'll probably find music for battle, mobilize and events.

Not exactly Medieval music but a Swedish march nonetheless...Hope you like it.
I monitored that conversation for quite a while and I'm surprised to see that only few aggressiv and atmospheric songs have been posted so far. I usually like to listen to dark ambient music and think that some songs from Nox Arcana would fit quite well.
