okay i deleted/replaced that DB folder, i haven't noticed a change. if i, for example, tell it to db2tsv the character_traits_levels folder, it fails. if i tell it to convert the whole db folder it works just fine, and that folder/file are converted and placed in the TSV folder and i can view.
Toon, have you tried telling it to convert the db folder instead of the sub-folder? if you extract/unpack just that one file but tell it to convert from "db" rather than the subfolder does that work?
EDIT: tried converting whole db, unit_stats_land gets skipped so must not be readable...strange i thought that and a couple other files had been working with taw's tools and i updated my sc2 files with taws latest ones.

trying db2tsv, but no matter what folder i choose (db or sub-folder) i get "Conversion failed, make sure you select a valid db folder"
You have to choose db with subfolder and the file inside subfolder.
i think, i dont understand how it works
- i extract whole db from data.pack with PFM to (for example) D:\extracted
- run converter, click 'Db 2 Tsv', choose db folder (D:\extracted\db)
- got error
- run converter, click 'Db 2 Tsv', choose units_tables folder (D:\extracted\db\units_tables)
- got error
so, what i doing wrong here exactly?
2 problems may be responsible for this error: either the db you select is not copied in DB folder of converter or conversion fails on execute. So after a failed attempt go in Shogun2 Converter\DB and check if there is in there your db you had chosen for conversion (Shogun2 Converter\DB\db\). Then you'll know... Report back.
it is working for me following your instructions huss. only works if i convert from the db folder, but automatically skips files it can't read, so it's working great! copies the db files into db folder within DB folder, and the tsv converted files are in the tsv subfolder.

husserlTW, sorry pal, but still dont work. a problem is same:
"Conversion failed, make sure you select a valid db folder"
What me do?
Ok this is what I did to get DbtoTSV to work:
1. download Convertor from first post, unzip to desktop
2. Install Jruby
3. Run the two batch files
4. using Pack File Manager extract the db file you wish to your data folder in S2
5. open Convertor and using "DBtoTSV" direct the program to your db folder in S2 data folder
6. open convertor you will see two files "db" and "tsv", choose which one you wish to edit (probably tsv)
Thats it!!
Hello Husser, thanks a lot for your useful tool and congratulations to your programming skills! +rep
This tool will be very helpful for modders who aren't familiar with taw's tools on the command line prompt.

I can convert db to tsv but cant convert it back it keeps tell me theres no tsv to convert.
After unpacking files in the convertor, how do I get the text files to show in a more orderly manner as it just seems to be line after line of text?? thanks
1. I can't convert to tsv the unit_stats_land file? It's just missing ((. Is it normal ? And what tool I have to use for it's modding ?
2. What files shoud be converted for the modding of initial diplomacy (vassals, at war) ?
ToonTotalWar, THANKS!!! It's WORK. How i can +rep to you and husserlTW
