I'll have mine a little later in the week. AP exams are this coming week so I'm a little bogged down with studying.

It is my great honour to have my poem Farmer in the Scriptorium here.

rofl no, but is a great medium nonetheless. It just doesn't have all of the features and capabilities to compete. But it beats paint any day.

Ah, but it is quality, not quantity, of features that counts. And GIMP has the best and only feature necessary:

    FULL LINUX SUPPORT!!!

I view gimp more as a stepping stone for Photoshop, though it easily succeeds as a stand alone program.

    Actually , i made a thread about it :

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=240104

GIMP came out as the winner ..

Because , tell me 1 thing that (in-game) Photoshop can do , but GIMP can't

My pattern file is showing up as corrupted and the opacity of the ellipse seems to stay the same. Help!

For some reason I can't get the scanlines pattern to show as a "pattern fill" when trying to use the bucket tool. I saved the pattern as a .pat in the correct folder. Am I missing something?

I actually found a temporary solution. Just open up the pat file in gimp again and save it a second time, just name it to whatever (like wwwwww for instance, just so you can find it easily in the list), same with the description, just scribble down some gibberish and you'll find it once you've restarted gimp. Don't ask me why but it works.

Edit: Work done. I used a motive for background, made some color adjustments, slapped on a gradient effect and a catchy quote. The result can be viewed in my signature.

did you save it to the right location Theo? you will have to reload the patern files though.

hit Shift +ctlr+p... then at the bottom there is a refresh button.

It's in the right location, I dove into Program Files to check. When you say hit "Shift + ctrl. . .) is that with GIMP running? Thanks.

If it's any help I just discovered that the pattern is displayed with it's description and not its name. Maybe you're looking for the wrong name in the pattern tab?

Edit: so when I didn't find my scanlines it was due to it simply being saved as "gimp pattern" as I didn't bother to write anything else. Same with my www, it's sorted under rrr.
