@Black Watch - Your in luck! I bought a program made by Soundbytes that has a realistic bagpipe simulator/sampler! Its called "Bagpipes", (Go figure).
So this stuff is definately in the realm of possibilty! Oh and thanks for the links they will come in handy.

@El Diablo - Soon mate, soon!

@Brips - My modding knowledge is quite minimal. This is my first mod I have ever made. I was originally going to make this for myself and figured why not share with everyone. AS for faction specific, I don't think this will be possible for sometime I'm guessing. Though as a side note, I have been messing with some of the audio paramiters in the games pack files. I have found an event script with a list of sounds that have settings like "Random" and "Linear" and a whole slew of other options for the way audio works in the game!

I have recently received an email by someone claiming that I "Stole" my music from the Blood & Smoke mod. It has upset me quite a bit, the US march will be the last one I'll be releasing for a few weeks. I am quite angry at this accusation considering that I have given up alot of my free time and working with my own band, to work on this mod. I don't like to be called a thief.
I have also come across several thread posts where some misinformed or unknowing person decides to reply to someone who was asking if my mod would work with x or x mod the reply was usually like this, "Probably not, besides he probably got the music from the patriot soundtrack." or my favorite (sarcasm) "Why would you want a mod like that when you can have this mod that has the british grenadiers music and new sfx anyway!". Honestly, why say something like this if you've never given my mod a listen or even tried it?
I do not want to come across as someone who cannot take criticism, trust me I can, I've been playing in bands for close to 17 years now, and have played both live concerts and in demo recordings and sessions. My music is critiqued every day on my bands webpage by listeners and other bands alike. I do like this community, but things like the above mentioned just really burn all the enthusiam I had! I do take my music very seriously though and sometimes to personally, but if you don't like something about the mod or something about a particular song then let me know so I can improve on it later!
The TW community at large is an excellent community, and I have always respected its modders and members and I in no way hold a grudge against you. Sorry about the rant but I needed to get it out.

Dont get discouraged because of stupid opinions/lies.. at least for the sake of us that do apreciate your work . Drum and fife mods may be a small adition but for me at least it makes a great impact on the general atmosphere of the game.

That's very sad to hear, Hollowfaith.. As previous posters have said; don't be discouraged by the rants of lesser informed forum members. These forums can be a bit rough, but don't let the individual nutcases and denigrating idiots get to you. As you've no doubt noticed, there's plenty of interest in this subject, so the more choices we as a community get, the better!

Take as much time as you need, but trust me; there are plenty of people very interested in this subject, so there will always be attention for this mod!

I know the feelings man. When one works get harsh critiques by the uninformed or accused, that does make it personal. Well people are critiques, you can ignore them or take them as grain of salt.

    Anyway,
I do hope someone found a way to make them faction specifics. Until then, I'm switching the drum&fife every time I play different factions.
It's not that hard if you used to swapping files manually like me.

    Ps.
Any chance you are working on Maratha drum & fife? Well something similar that used in their songs...

It was part of the old Smoke mod version. Thankfully, the files was separated later on (as the sound effects along drum & fife seems to be neglected as smoke mod progress).

    Love this mod!

But is it normal that sometimes each regiment of the army is playing a different song, creating a jumble of songs?

That happen a lot Skywalker. Even with the other drum&fife mods. It seems they played seperately, i'd say it's normal. In vanilla you hardly notice it since they only play looping drum.

@Bocah Bali - Trust me I will leave NO faction without some kind of Field music. Maratha's will have something you can be assured.

@ Everyone- Thank you for the kind words! It was extraordinarily discouraging. Especially the email. I apologize to everyone for my rant. No worries though, I am going to continue to work on this mod. Though the song releases will be a little further apart. I need to write and mix my own bands music as I have been neglecting that to work on this mod.

On a good note, "Yankee Doodle" is nearing completion and im in the process of post mixing it as I type this. It will be available later tonight! So stay tuned!

@Groove74 - I was just finishing it in post-mixing, and it is now up!

I tried a different way in recording the drum sections. I basically cut back on some of the FX used and I have very minimal reverb on them. So they have a drier but more clear sound. I recorded this track like I would have with my bands music so its should sound also a little more "Full" and not so hollow and echoey. Let me know what you think, constructive criticism is always welcome! Link for download is on first post, first page!

    Enjoy!

I would recommend you use one patch pack or music mod at a time. Do not mix the drum and fife marches or other music mods together (Unless of course the only alter the campiagn map music sounds etcc and not the battle marches). You'll probably have 3 to 4 different songs playing at once on the field and it sounds like mishmash or they will not work at all. What I do is I have a seperate folder outside of the data directory with my packs. Before play, I drag the file I want into the data directory. Then remove the unwanted pack back into the folder outside of the data folder. Makes life much easier!

Also if you really wanted to you could also add my packs name under your user scripts as a mod, though it really doesn't make a difference and I have noticed no difference in performance or useage by doing that.

    I hope that helps!

@Groove - Thanks mate, I hope you enjoy it!

I downloaded the Mod for the US you just posted and I followed the instructions in the brittich mod file that did come with a read me file. it is the same path right? keeping in mind I only in stalled the US one.

I placed the file in my data folder. and when my troops march I do hear the song. just a drum roll.

only other mods I have are the 4 turn and Smoke and blood mod, is there a conflict?

I tested it in a cutom battle. no music playing?

@Groove74 - No the mod works. Its the way in which Empire utilizes the sounds on the Battlefield. Only 4 regiments in the entire army will ever make marching sounds. It is a limitation with the game currently. Also a few things...

1.) The music will only play with units that have a drummer or musician in the regiment.

2.) Also I noticed that sometimes the music cuts out or does not play on units with a drummer. What I found is this for a quick fix...you march your troops forward and while they are marching tap your move forward button on your UI (Its on the right part of your screen with the dial that has arrows on it. Do this till you see the green markers move forward slightly from where they are going), that seems to fix the music not playing, for me at least. You may need to do this a few times to get the music to kick on! I am currently trying to look into this to see what can be done by messing with the events files.

    Hope some of this helps!
