    Default "Avatar The Last Airbender 3:1" - Alpha version out

    The alpha version has been finished. It can be downloaded here:

    It has the following features:

    • 4 Playable factions (Air Nomads, Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation)
    • 12 turns per year (1,200 turns in total)
    • Each faction has several units
    • All settlements have a garrison
    • Recruitment is based on the culture percentage in a settlement (so you need 80% Fire Nation culture to recruit Heavy Komodo Rhino Cavalry).
    • Bending works in battle

    The following still needs to be done:

    • Replacing the generic units with Avatar ones
    • Unit balancing
    • New traits and Ancillaries
    • New names of characters and locations
    • New buildings
    • New icons
    • New music
    • New strat models
    • Adding sounds
    • Possibly splitting the Water Tribe into two factions and the Air Nomads into 4 factions (one for each temple)

    Installation Instructions

    1) Unpack the mod with 7zip

    2) Put the 'avatar' folder, 'avatar.bat', and 'avatar.cfg' in your 'Medieval II Total War' folder (default location 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War').

    3) Double click on the avatar.bat to start this mod. As this is a Kingdom's mod you need to have Kingdoms installed.

    Hello everyone,

    I'm someone who likes the cartoon serie "Avatar The Last Airbender" from Nickelodeon. I came up with an idea, I'm planning to make some units for each of the four factions from the Avatar universe. These are my plans:

    1. Firebenders: I was thinking how to represent these units in the game. I thought I could do this with giving this unit the same ability's like the Greek Firethrowers.

    2. Earthbenders: I thought we could give this unit the ability such like most siege engines have: Throwing stones

    3. Airbenders: Maybe we could make a animation for this unit that those airbenders hit the ground or something. And that they have the same ability like cannons that they throw invisible shells that explode. So it looks like that they hit the ground and that they send a blast of wind to the enemie who fly in the air.

    4. Waterbenders: I don't know how to represent these units ingame but I tought just like the Firebenders that they throw water with high speed at the enemy. Its just an idea.

    Well, give your opinion about this mod. I can use any support I can get .

    Avatar technically isn't an anime, since it was made in America not Japan (though it was drawn in Korea).

    It is possible to have units throw fireballs, rocks, and invisible weapons (air) because they all exist in my 4 Seasons mod. However water is more difficult since M2TW doesn't have any projectiles shaped like a water whip (though you could modify the greek flame thrower for a water torrent and boulders for snow balls).

    The main problem with this is that there are only a few projectiles and you cannot assign multiple textures to them (they have one texture assigned to them). For example if I edit the 'data\models_effects\textures\boulder.texture' belonging to the 'data\models_effects\boulder_medium.cas' I can have brown boulders (rocks) or white boulders (snowballs) but not both. I did try putting the different versions in different folders but the mod refused to accept them and the projectile was invisible.

    However if you were able to create new projectiles or change the texture assigned to them then you could have a greater variety of projectiles.

    Finally some projectiles have specific effects assigned to them. I found that when I used the cannon ball projectile rather than boulders it killed everyone in the direction the projectile travelled, rather than the people it hit.


    When do you plan to set this mod? I think it would be a good idea to set it after Aang coccoons himself in the ice, since you could have 100 years of war.

    Also will the Earth Kingdom be united or split into several factions (such as Ba Sing Se, Omashu, etc).

    Modelling and texturing all of this is hard work, and animations are particularly tough. Armies would also probably be very small in size, because 10,000 cannons firing at once probably would be tough.

    Uanime5 has given some good hints though. Avatar is a great show. Would you want to do a map, too - since it's already laid out in Avatar? Or would you just want to include units?

    I just want to begin with 1 unit for each faction. After that, we might expand the roster and maybe even a world map. But that's not on my mind atm. I've started modelling the earthbenders.

    Yeah, for the Earth Kingdom earthbenders I'm modelling the Dai Li units later on as elite earthbending units.

    The Dai Li are going to be the elite earthbenders and there's chance that they will be included later in the mod. For now I want to create the basic units of each faction. Ofcourse their are also soldiers that can't bend. The entire army of the Southern Water Tribe exists of non-benders. They might be included later . And I found something for the cavelary:

    You know all the factions in Avatar series have style of fighting
    Firebending- looks alot like North Shaolin (maybe West)
    Waterbending- ive been thinking about it and it seems to be Tai Chi, im almost sure of it
    Earthbending- Hung Gar as tht Rommel guy said
    Airbending- ok this is where i consult the majestic GOOGLE. says its Ba Gua Zhang. I've never heard of it but i suppose ifu type it into youtube you'll get a few demonstrations. Then you can work it into the animations. hope it helps ?

    EDIT: just noticed something! Toph is not Hung Gar, ive no idea what she is but id ur gonna make her a general sort of thing then she aint gonna fight like anyother earthbender

    Today Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow are going to be great days for avatar fans because then the last 6 episodes of season 3 are going to be released . Too bad I'm in france then... I will be back within two weeks . You can expect that I'm going to work on this mod again by that time.

    it sucks tht it aint airin in england. i have to go onto avatarchapters.org to watch em all. its ok but a little crappy resolution. its endin pretty well though. I think they mentioned a movie or something? Cant wait for the next update on ur mod
