@Eothese, the last time I had that occur with the .bik files was the priest on a ship causing it.

The ones that I have found throwing those errors lately have been trait/ancillary/guild triggers and some vanilla.

What do you mean "reinstall"? You mean the whole game? And what are those vanilla files everyone's talking about? 10x in advance.

Yes, I mean the whole game. Vanilla files are unmodded files.

vanilla = origional aka medieval II total war is the origional game. a medieval II total war mod is not the origional name.

"reinstall" meaning: uninstall your medieval II totalwar and then install it back again on your computer.

I reinstalled the whole game.... again. And then I installed the 0.99 Faclom Demo version. And again it crashes. God damn it. What do I have to do to play this damn mode. Phhhh. Sorry. I'm just a bit pissed. If there is a problem I'll always be the one having it.

Can you start a campaing without the Faclom Demo installed?

If you can, leave the Demo alone and contact its maker with any error messages that popped up.

I have a custom battle ctd.

    Custom Battles

The mod crashes if I select to siege or defend a fort or castle. Without any fortifications the custom battle works fine. I am guessing this is being caused by an error in the export_descr_buildings.txt file. Thanks in advance.

The TATW guys had a similar problem I believe, can't remember how they fixed it. Given the same situation, does it crash on the strategic map as well?
Can you upload the log (trace mode) please?

There are various unit ownership errors and a building level error (mayor palace for hre), but that shouldn't be the reason.
Units for custom battles are determined through the EDU, and an absent building (not being to be build) won't be the reason either.
The perplexing thing is that there is nothing for eight seconds from displaying the pic for the custom battle until the crash.

Can you run a test with the exact same units (one each faction will do the job) for the two scenarios (with and without fortification)?
Save the log for the 'without fortification' test for comparison.

I re-installed patch .8 in ATW just to make sure all the files were current. Here are 2 logs, one with a fort and the second one without the fort and still selecting the same map. As soon as I select fort from the drop down menu the mod ctds instantly. Never lets me go to the next screen where I select the factions.

Couldn't find any indication in the logs.

Did you have any problems with siege battles in the game?

Hey, I recently built a mod and started playtesting it (might release it later), but I encountered a problem.

CTD's happen from the campaign map while it's the AI's turn. Over different campaigns it happens in different turns and different factions. The log isn't helping me either with:

19:06:53.875 [system.rpt] [error] Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.

I have tried deleting the triggers of the ancillaries and the character traits as adviced at the top of the thread. I also tried removing the aimod and using the original ai-files, but this didn't fix the ctd's either.

Would anyone know what could be causing these CTD's? As I really don't know what else could be causing it. I attached the log. Thanks in advance for looking into it, it means a lot to me

You have a few ownership issues and some buildings need the correct factions be set. Check the log for [error] entries and solve those.

    Thanks for the quick reaction!

I was under the impression those couldn't trigger a CTD, but I will fix them and let you know how it turns out!

No they don't, but if your crash is random without a message then you want to get rid of any possible reason. Sometimes it's not the error as such. Your units that cause the error in the EDB might cause a crash on a battlefield (just an example - not sure if that would happen)
