    Twosocks,

Great mod, one music I personally found to be bad is the one with a women and girl chanting while on the campaign map.

If anyone else sees it, maybe replace that one.
But definitely better than other music mods that have music outside of this era

Well I cant really say what song is that as I am currently rearranging and adding some new tracks. Not much changed though. I will upload version 4 soon. Check it out and tell me if that song is still there - if yes I probably liked it

Tank you! ...version 4 is even better, and the drill instructors sounds are brilliant but I needed to change the file format to patch in order to make it work. I really don’t know why but if I leave the file in release format it doesn’t work - so if anyone have the same problem just save the mod in patch format.

Heey Twosocks! Luv that tune you found on youtube!
Too bad the quality is that low. Could have used it as a sample in my rave parties
Kinda reminds me music of the Tuva.

    I really enjoy your musics
BUT I can't use your mod, because you deleted the HORN sounds to put your instructors voices........ That's a good idea, but please don't delete the horn sounds, they are essential for audio immersion and realism (first time in a vanilla TW).
Fusion may be, or a optional version?

I too was dissapointed that the quality was so low with that video, else I would have surely included it in my mod. But I couldnt resist to post it anyway as its really cool. I wish you good fun for your next Samurai rave though, theres a lot of nice Taiko beats out there !

Sorry but I dont really understand what you mean with why you cant use the mod because some horn sounds have been replaced ( I only replaced ALL drums not all horns). This "audio immersion and realism (first time in a vanilla TW)." makes no sense for me - as I am no native english speaker, pls care to explain. I like the idea of seperate versions though, give me some time for that.

Just speaking about the war horn sounds that we hear each time when an unit receive an order, the sound come from the generals cavalries (and drums from units). With generals when you use a special abilities you hear a random horn sound, and now, there is no war horn sounds anymore, not at all. I can't use it because I love so much this horns for my personal immersion (and other players immersion I suppose). Drums are so important too...

-If you can just add new instructor voices without delete the drum and horn sounds (who are so important for communication on a battle field, because in battle we can't hear instructor voice, but drum and horn yes) it will be great
-And a version with just musics.
-And a version like now (useless I think if you have all of the sounds in one mod).

I made for MTW2 a mod with 34 new war horn sounds ( http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=229015 ); where are they in the shogun 2 game program? I may be want to add new ones to the game.

Ah ok now I see what you mean. First off I did not replace all warhorn sounds (yes there still are a few left) , but replaced all drum formation sounds. The reason was simple: the japanese simply did not use drum sounds for formation orders and they only used hornlike trumpets to issue orders across the battlefield (so no unit based trumpet signals). Minly flags and Taiko drums (big drums) were used. So basically you can say the sounds ingame (vanilla) used for formation orders are pure fiction. So I replaced them with real voices of japanese drillinstructors. For me this sounds much more real and tense now if you can hear shouted commands (low level so you can hardly hear them).

If you want a much more realistic experience then this mod should suit you just fine but if you want a more cinematic popcorn experience then I guess you will miss the drum and horn formation sounds. I understand that this is a personal taste and I do not want to offend you but it has nothing to do with realism.

As I already stated before I will indeed offer different versions soon so you can/will have a pure music mod, a mixed mod and the single formation sound file seperately. I hope that helps

    • Taiko are large Japanese drums which, in addition to their military applications, are very common elements in rituals and matsuri (festivals). In war, taiko would be used to rouse the troops, calling them to battle, as well as to summon allies onto the field, to set marching pace, and to encourage troops as they approached victory.

    • Jinkai were conch shells used as trumpets or horns, to issue orders across the battlefield. A complex system of conch calls came into use by the height of the Sengoku period. Many yamabushi were renowned for their skill with a conch, and were hired into feudal armies as kai yaku, or trumpeters.

    Well informed!

Thus in fact, there ARE horn sounds and drums, with instructors if I understand well... But not for the same goal than vanilla, if you can make a Full version with drums, horns and instructors with their real goal (movements, orders, generals abilities etc) is very great!

if i read well, they use drums and horn for some goals:

Horn=to issue orders across the battlefield

You should not think of a Taiko drum as a small military drum used in Europe for formation orders etc. Battlefields in Japan were completly different as were their drums and their purposes.
Heres a good link for more info :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiko

In feudal Japan, taiko drums were used in the military. They would be carried around by multiple people throughout the battlefield and would be played to intimidate the opposing army, keep a marching rhythm and to call out orders from leaders. The taiko drums were also important in religious ceremonies, and they are used in that way today as well.

if i read well, they use drums and horn for some goals:

Drums=to rouse the troops, calling them to battle, as well as to summon allies onto the field, to set marching pace, and to encourage troops as they approached victory

Horn=to issue orders across the battlefield
The goals are very different. Horns would have a much wider range of commands but also a lesser hearing range. They were probably used in the heat of battle quick tactical decisions. As the drums were not very mobile they would not be used in the midth of battle etc. and would only cover very basic commands like "Attack-Withdraw" etc. - their main purpose was a morale thing.

But thats not really the point. The point is that the drum formation sounds used in the vanilla shogun 2 are not Taiko drums at all, but rather smaller, european drums. Those were not used by the Japanese at that time. For me they do not fit into the game so I replaced them with more fitting command shouts
The horns had their place so I left most of them untouched.

I uploaded a small video so people can hear some examples of the new formation sounds. Check it out, you will even hear some horns.

If Japanese used drum and horn (even if different than Europe), it's better to have them than not at all (for immersion and "realism").
