War of Resource |
Yeah if you ever play monopoly or anything that require brain power, you know what it means by controling resource you control the gameplay. So the main thing is to grab resource as many and faster as you can, while in the process you can decide to trade and share your resource while gain money, and friendship with other Clans or dont trade and you will invite a lot of enemy hungry to grab you resource. Remember poor rob rich man case.
The problem is if you choice to trade you let the other Clans growth, on military aspect this dangerous, because sooner or later you will face the nemesis you made.Better example like petting wild tiger , yeah when he still a little he will nice and funny, but the longer the little tiger growth into full adult tiger, and guess what you will become his Meal. Problematic eh ??? read more and you will be suprise |
Cunning Diplomacy | Since i also loved play ROTK game, i bit heavy when come into political and intrigue,i think most of you already hear about "Kill With a Borrowed Sword" it was third tactic from "The 36 Stratagems " . And i realy advised you to do that, especialy when planning war, i already modify so the AI definitly will help you when the war is broke, provided you give them military acces to your land , AI will less backstabing except your diplomatic relationship was sunk realy low or you get threat of attack , it cant be helped they will 100 % betray you if you get "threat of attack note".
Even this is not rival like rome 2 where you can spesific ask ally to attack target from map, they will come to fight the enemy "If" you and him share military access so. And about hostages yes you can get opponent hostages but in trade condition mostly , and its must in good relationship or ally, dont bother ask if your relation ship in bad term, they will reject mostly here some example why you should consider sharing military acces with your trusted ally.Remember it also apply with the enemy too.
You can see Hojo send me 2 stack army to help get rid Oda, so there is benefit to make reliable alliance, especialy when you gonna hit Realm Divide, With good politic manouever you can create two block of power The enemy alliance vs Your Alliance. Its realy bad idea if you planning go on solo vs everyone, you need team player in RGM mods.
Boring playing as ruthless Daimyo ??? Prefer honourable way to conquer Japan by using diplomacy ?? Just want to be a good guy ?? Dying to see Realm Divide but in AI instead of you? Now you can make it happens,this is the picture while i play RGM 7.3,Very Hard Campaign, as you see there is no way i can beat Oda with just sheer of military strengh especialy in term of man power i can recruit,But since i save enough money to bribe other faction to join in my little scheme amd voila here is the result. Before you always said why develop chi, its better i develop bushido, when max i can steam rolling any enemy? now you can see thanks for focus in Chi, and develop healthy trading with other faction i can develop enough money to make my plan into frutition . Diplomacy is a tool that sharper then blade if we able to use it. There is merit in art of making money.Here some example how terryfing other AI faction
Still big question is wandering did Korea will make naval invasion ??? Since i can see his navy ship already roam in Japan sea .

Unpredictable Campaign |
Here you see i play Takeda on VH campaign, right now turn 8 the Oda finally swallow the Tokugawa and try sweep toward Imagawa, most small clan either submit as vassal or be destroyed.It seem the Oda is unstoptable force.
The Oda finally defeat Imagawa and continue to press into Kai land, where Shingen Takeda already waiting and deliver heavy blow to Oda Clan with death and defeat of Oda Daimyo.It was huge success even many of Takeda warrior die in the process.
Now its turn 28, the table is turned, the Oda has been deserted by his own Vassal,Tokugawa rebellion seem the cause of the Oda downfall,While Oda main power destroyed on Kai.Watch Tokugawa now finally topple the old Conqueror and press the attack to Owari,and finally emerge as victor, considering Tokugawa already reduced to ash before, its quite achievement.
Oda now is left with one province in Suruga, ex Imagawa Clan home province,Seizing this oppurtunity Takeda try to end this old feud once and for all, still no one expected to be greet by heavy resistant from Oda,and this is just fort lvl 1 province.If they left Unchecked the Oda may rise again.
Notice the auto resolve strengh between Takeda and Oda.

Building and Resources |
To build something you need certain resource, but to simplify the gameplay i focused with only 2 resource that Stone and Wood, What the catch ??? Every chain building starting from 2 tier to 3 or 4 will require either wood or stone.From mighty castle to road to port , almost all of it except farm. So no trade stone or wood then try satisfied with 1 tier building. You cant build something without resource !!! that the rule in this game, its bent ai and human player, no wonders ai will furious when you dont want trade with him. Army Recruitment |
You like realism ??? nah you will love this part. So to create something you need certain resource for that. Here a little concept i use
Iron : sword and spear most of samurai units
Wood : ship and bow
Silk : ninja mostly
Medicine : Monk and gun powder unit
Horse : Cavalry unit
Craft : Ronin, bandits mercenary mostly any low life you guys take use for sacrifices in battles
Cotton : Lady units and Hero only
Stone : Tetsubo class only and mangonel

"You have already recruited the maximum number of this unit already" Hu ?? I am prety sure its the beggining how can i cant recruit more yari ashigaru to smash the rebellion, damn what the ?? I cant spam ashigaru , Great !!! what a loser, sure the one who make this mod is Suck !!!
Okey if you are the one who said like that, then this mod is not for yours, go find another one or vanilla where you can field unlimited army as long your gold can coffer it, go conquer japan with only 1 tiny little undeveloped province or maybe 1 super developed province, where you can field unlimited man power, dudes its Japan c. 1467 – c. 1573,
To field a huge number of army you need a lot of food, that the reason why Caesar agree conquer Egypt because it have huge field of grain. In RGM to build a stack army its all depend on how well developed your farm and how many farm you have, still you need certain buiding to recruit certain units. But the man power of your clan growth dynamicly, the more province you hold the bigger the army you can field. So farm now play a important role now. Example
1 sword dojo lvl 1= 1 light samurai, so if you have 2 sword dojo lvl 1 = 2 light samurai
1 farm lvl 1 = 2 yari ashigaru , so if you have 2 farm = 4 yari ashigaru
1 farm lvl 2 = 4 yari ashigaru, so if you have 3 farm = 12 yari ashigaru
Aha !! it sound logical to me , well it seem Sengoku Jidai not a robot factory era where one Clans can field unlimited number of robots by holding 1 province
With recent upgarde prior RGM 7.1 using the same concept but more reflect futher into faction power, now your army and AI will be divided into 4 type :
1.Ashigaru = Farm (every farm you have will increase maximum ashigaru unit type, except gunpowder ashigaru)
2.Samurai = Military Dojo you have for each type will increase maximum samurai unit per type you can field, so if you build alot of sword dojo you can field a lot of sword type samurai. Planning carefully for balance building means balance army
3.Monk = same concept like before , temple only
4.Ninja and Ronin = same concept like before, sake and market chain

Food,Town and Garrison |

Student : Teacher why we need to build farm ?
Teacher : Because to feed people inside that building
Student : Realy ? why ? i dont see the man, is he ghost ?
Teacher : Because he is a garrison unit, anyway lets skip that part, the point is you need food for every building and its growth bigger every upgrade
Student : Okey then, is there another purpose ?
Teacher : The more developed your province the more food it consumed so you cant build every province to super well developed Province like dream land
Teacher : Still its in beta stage but the ratio is 3-4 lvl 4 farm : 1 super well developed province and dont forget every building have it own garrison
Student : So its more harder to siege then, even i outnumber them 2 : 1
Teacher : Yes that the beauty of it, neither you or ai will like it since its make the job become bloody hard, but it provides better challenge to human
Student : Excuse me sir , what do you mean ?
Teacher : I know boys you plan steam rolling them with huge number of ashigaru, by pulling the main enemy army into ambush and destroy the rest

Teacher : Siege will harder and the difficulity lies on how well developed enemy province, it will lot of variation on garrison, it will bloody as hell !!!!

Building tax,squalor system |
So if you already play Rome 2 i think you are quite familiar with this new kind of system i implemented in RGM, so basicly the bigger your province the more compleks its problem,for example if you upgrade the city you will get better tax but repression will become lower and lower each time you upgrade ( well mob never loves pay taxes), and if you increase farming you get more food, gdp but since more people working in your fields mean the repression also become lower and lower, in reality bigger farm means more people working there and that mean increase in squalor, here the list what effect you get in certain building.
1.Castle: oh, good old jolly, well the bigger your city, the better it tax but more disgruntled people lining behind you speaking of rebellion
2.Farm : Well more food more disorder since more worker means more problem arise, but province wealth increase so its fair enough
3.Market : Ah the true way of making money,its boost your town groth and province wealth but unhappiness will surely follow since large market mean more people come and go, also the old way of farming started to decline since people busy themself making profit.
4.Gambling Den : If you want to control the population plus fast dough from increase province wealth, be sure to build them, from time to time its human nature to addicted for all forbidden pleasure, you want gambling , we get it, women for company we provided it, sake for sobers we pour it to you, yep women,alcohol,and gambling,good food everthing you loves we provided with some cost off course. Who want talk rebellion if we can spend every night with fun like this.Yep as you read it its boost happiness and province wealth but since this kind of making money is not healty for economic it will ruin your town growth for sure.Money that earned from hard working spent instead of buying food or repair house or for adding bussiness capital, now spend to local brothel and casino, poverty will follow for sure.
5.Military and speciality building : All goverment building will give some extra repression, since with extra garrison its provided they will go patrol regulary to protect its local population from crime, but like all goverment issue, its will cost money to maintain such building, and that come from province tax, the more building like dojo or stable you have the less taxed you get from that province since all tax money goes to public building.Mine, smith, lumber, stone work different just check it out
6. Temple and Church : This is the healty building since its boost people happiness from religion without negative effect, just little tax money to maintain it, so its worth to build, human always found peace in religion.
7. Port : It will divided into 2 parts military or trading ports, if you choice trading its will boost your money,but disoder will rise, if you choice military its less money, also require some tax to maintain, but order will improved, since ports will more safer with large of garrrison patroling it.

Army Composition |
Here is the example how AI can utilize army composition, i think its prety balance enough,There is mix of ashigaru, light,normal, and heavy units, its also bring cavalary from any type, spear,sword,bow and you must be notice that AI actualy merge into 1 pack of 40 units,that quite a punch realy. This screenshoot taken from 111 turn campaign play as Mori in Vh.
And this is army compostion from minor clan that hold 1 or 2 developed province, you may notice there is quite a lot heavy swordman here, considering minor and nobody clan and the amount of province its held its realy good inded. |
Naval Aspect |
Now we can use proper naval bombardment in sengoku jidai, also i tweak heavy ship to use fire rocket instead fire arrow, historically correct ,to make thing more intersting, oh also add ramming capablity too, still its will be consider again since only human can use it instead ai , maybe i remove maybe i keep it, we will see it later.The cannon beat heavy beat medium beat light ship in the order.There is merit to rule the sea, naval bombardment come in handy in siege .
Also only heavy ship can do bombardment, i dont like the idea of massing sengoku bune or light ship, one heavy otaka bune will destroy most of light ship regarding the number maybe if you bring 7-10 you can win by outnumber it so badly, maybe. |
City Bombardment By AI |
Did AI capable to use navy Bombardment to your city ??? The answer is yes, you can see Hojo send his navy to bombard my city, and yes its do make some damage to my temple, But there is no ingame log report that state you city got bombard by Hojo because originaly navy bombardment only exist in FOTS, not in Shogun 2 original, so there is no log or string event to tell you province got bombard by enemy like FOTS, still i believe for some miracle i can implement naval log event like FOTS.But look at the bright side, the AI indeed Capable to bomb your City from Sea and realy DO IT !!!! |
General, Ability, and Hero |
Famous general especialy Daimyo from major Clans are the proud of their Clans,they are the iron fist from the Clan armed with fearsome naginata and katana,they struck in battle like thunder, to protect their Clan,the very best of the men swore to protect their Daimyo.There is clear different when army lead by normal general and their famous general (most of them is Daimyo from major Clan).
Normal general in the other hand, prefer small amount of capable men, armed with bow and spear, they can stay from dangerous situation since their number is small, prefer flexibility and lot of movement in the battlefield.Still they are capable warrior, and with bow in hand, they are capable to delivers deadly arrow.

Katana and Yari Animation into one |
Many unit will use two weapon at once, its mimic the real situation in the battlefield, yep now katana is not accessory anymore since many spear or naginata unit will use it when the battle begins, if you see shogun 2 openings you can see the monk who fight katana samurai use his naginata first then he use his sword, only to be beaten by katana samurai, in this mod you can see this happening a lot. |
Shield for Non Samurai units |
With Imijin added now we can finally see some huge change for example shield eguip, right now most of non samurai unit carry shield,also it have a hidden stats, if unit carry shield it will take less damage from front attack either its missile or charge damage, but offer no protection if attacked from behind or side. From my view point as modder and player i dont disagree with unit carry shield, because japan inded uses shield but its never popular, plus its non samurai we talking about, there is no rule that state non samurai units forbidden to carry shield or some protector right ? |

Unholly Trinity Daimyo Animation | Introducing Hybrid Animation , lets we call it unholly trinity animation
Its combining bullgod sitting daimyo animation + sheath and blade from weirdoacensor + katana yari by Lokgar, you can sit, you can fight with two weapon plus carry scrabbard to give more realism for general. |

Hero system |
Reimplement the hero system, so every major Clan from the very start of Campaign already have. The purpose of this to make you dont spend many turn just to see some hero in action, also how many times you can see each hero duel each other in battlefield, now you can, well if ai dont handle them bad, i think they will survive and have good chuck of exp waiting for you in the battlefield. It also help the major clan progess better since have hero in unit have its own advantages, now the question is how good you can handle the AI in the battlefield when you see they bring their own hero from the very beginning ? |
Rebalance unit Stats |
The units stats carefully divided into different class each for example :
1.Ashigaru
2.Light samurai
3.Normal samurai
4.Heavy or Elite samurai (Hero)
5.Monk, Ninja and female Class

Aggresive and Clever Campaign A.I |
Yep,like its name said Aggresive and Clever Campaign A.I. To make its short its eliminates weakness in every clan and make them play hard. In easy languange you put CAI in MAX effort, to destroy player or other clan by anymean necessary. Survival of the fittest. Theory of chaos work here.
Teacher : In shogun 2 or rome 2 there are thing name personality that make some faction / clan act different,from military,diplomacy,to religion and building
Student : And what the connection teacher ?
Teacher : Because of it some faction / clan born with stronger desire to conquer then other. In simple words, some of Clan born with very hard , while other maybe medium or easy
Student : Ah i see, some some of faction is not fully optimize to defeat human player or other faction
Teacher : Correct, but here the things, since we humans love to exploit thing, then easy faction is always the first one we go, more like blunders. In the first we like it, but after play lot of longer we became boring, since its became to obvious how we can steam roller the weak. In late game those who survives its not many and maybe from 10 faction only 3 that realy give human players a true challenge. Like sending army sack your city.Or trample your forces. Or banded together to crush you.
Student : Then we should put every faction into max level of military behaviour, the result is total chaos and unpredicatable gameplay since every faction now put MAX effort to conquer
Teacher : Correct kids,but your forget one things to ensure the rampage is clever not suicidal one, we need provide minimum chance to win like 60% for CAI.
Student : That means the CAI will attack in the spot where he sure to win !!! Holly if every faction act clever like that ,its truly give me max challenge to beat it
