And Dan, women shouldn't be slaves, they deserve choice just like men do. But that doesn't change the fact that the man's job is to chivalrously provide for his wife and children, and the woman's is to take care of the home and family. Am I against divorce? Absolutely not! There's plenty of men like my own father that need to be shot a few times and figure out what their duty is! But that doesn't mean that women are just men with boobs, and it doesn't by ANY means excuse the near-death of Chivalry we see today.

Chivalry is a non-existent romantic concept that perhaps existed among some medieval knights, but certainly not in the time periods you consider ideal.

It's also a useless one. The only thing needed is the Church. All other philosophical ideas and codes fall short and are unecessary distractions from the Truth.

Chivalry is the code of Honour by which all good men live, be they knowing of it or nay. I speak of Chivalry, yet Chivalry is truly merely the embodiment of the Commandment of loving thine neighbour. And Chivalry did exist still in the Antebellum South.

Chivalry is nice on valentines, but in the harsh light of day it's just another idea that the barbarians brought in, which is why it only really caught on in Western Europe. I won't deny that some of its ideas are...decent, with the inspiration behind them certainly being good, but it never had a place in Christian society. There is good behavior becoming of a good man - loyalty, faith, respect, kindness, generosity, etc - and then there is evil. There doesn't need to be anything else. Chivalry is just a warrior code, something for bards to sing about that few people actually lived by.
