So you brought us all back here today after an entire year of patiently awaiting detail on the Viking history just to tell us that you need to do more writing?

    WWII! WWII!

PS: Didn't a similar slide occur at Byneset earlier this year or late last year? Trřndelag is one interesting geological piece of Norway.

It did. But it was much smaller. And was not very dangerous.

They happen all the time. An bigger one than the one by Byneset happened in Verdal 40 or so years ago. And a new small one happened just uphill from me this year.

At least we got this to brag about, since we don't have the epic mountains

Princess Luna, I'm Italian and my English isn't good so IMHO your Language is more than perfect!

Now, I'm an Architect, and I graduated in Architecture and Urbanism, writing a work about an area of the Western Ligurian territory; this only to say that I'm very interested in this kind of works: I see your work like an history of the developments of the human and social geography of an anthropized area.
I like very much the idea of an History, which is human and natural history, of a well definied geographical area.

It is like a Novel in which the main character is the Land itself, I like the idea!!!

I like it so much that I would like to read more works of this kind, about different lands and countries.
The idea IMHO is so good, that it should deserve an appropriate thread to collect this kind of works.

Write my dear, write!..... and again thanks for the wonderful images of this wonderful land!
I really appreciated the armony of the landscape of this magnificent land.
Thanks again, and continue this work, please.

Okay, I am not an expert, bu I can try to tell.

Generally, around here, there are a lot of clay in the soil (obviously) unless it had been farmed for 300+ years whiteout getting covered in a landslide again. Which only the biggest farms down by the sea have.

It makes the soil thick, hard and clingy. Water sometimes have a hard time sinking down into it. It holds minerals and water really well, no one here waters the fields. That has mostly to do with the rain though. Actually potatoes and similar often drowns because of to much water.

    The harvests:
    -A LOT of barley
    -Carrots and potatoes
    -Some oatmeal
-I think there was one trying to grow wheat
    -Grass for the cattle
-A tiny bit of flax i think
    -Some rye
    -Evergreens
    -Christmas trees

    A common medium-large farm:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The biggest farm in Verdal has 800 acres.

Nowadays the average farm has specialized in producing in producing one thing, pigs, cattle, barley etc.
Between 50 and couple of hundred animals are average for such a farm.
Earlier they usually had 3 cows, 10 chickens and a pig. Maybe some sheep and a horse.

Sheep are usually sent to shieling in the mountains to feed in the summer.

Ask more! Hard to tell like this
