yes, have one faction in turkey, that´s exacly the reason why i though it would be a good idea. i mean, it is a huge territory full of rebel settlements and all of them fo only one faction? wouldn´t that unbalance the game?

mmhh.. it is tough to chooce one. are we having Thrakia as a faction? cause i think that would be my choice.

thrakia isn´t on the faction list
Many good sugestions Stephan, but the map is to messy :p
Try to use an image for each region like syria, palestine etc..
are you guys aware of the amount of work required for this campaign?
unless you are experienced moders, with keen knowledge of scripting, coding and modeling/textureing, you will have to learn a huge amount of different stuff.
may i suggest that you first make a smaller campaign, concentrated on either the north/western or the middle eastern part. there should be enough cultures in those areas to make a diverse campaign.
when you have a working campaign, somewhat ready for beta testing, you could expand it to the whole map.
you should also look for other mods spanning similar time-frame and/or area and team up.

point..
sure we arnt the expierienced modders but we dont have to release this mod tomorrow so we have time to learn and maybe some more expierienced modders will join later
why not the whole map from the beginning the factions that arnt done are just rebells and we also have some clone factions which dont need many extra workmay i suggest that you first make a smaller campaign, concentrated on either the north/western or the middle eastern part. there should be enough cultures in those areas to make a diverse campaign.
sure thing, we are rockies, you could say (well, at least i am). but this mod is still in the phase of organization. our team is short but i´m sure more peopple will join us later, maybe someone with experience. so i don´t think it will be a problem.
you have to start somewhere
not my intention to thrash you guys for being noobs or anything like that.
my point being merely that by concentrating on one region and focusing on a few cultures at a time, you are more likely to get this project up and running. what you are aiming at is somewhat of a full conertion of m2tw.
let say you concentrate on the north/western part. you would have carthago, romans(latins?) and the celts to focus on. this would reduce the mapping job by a bunch and also give a good position to expand the map later. when you have that part set up and close to a beta, you would have aquired the skill and expertice to make the rest a piece of cake.
any way, what you need to do is to get the mapping and coding done, both huge jobs.
the chance of experienced modders joining a project that not even got a working mod folder, nor any modelers or scripters are close to nill. this should be obvious by the amount of ideas and maps in the wips section.
but, again, it is not my intention to rain on your parade. the reason i am bothering you with this is that i rather like the time-frame and would like to see this project amount to something.
thumbs up for the initiative and happy moding.

welcome to the team
@Stephan
nicely done. i don´t think we will need more settlemenst, but if we do, we can always include some.
i have a question though. are you sure Byzantium was already there on our time period?
