Don't ever buy Paradox games on release. They're pretty good after a year though.

It's going to be interesting to see how this evolves from the shadow CK2 with its years of development and expansions. After all there are still plenty of players of both Civ 5 and Civ 6
Initially when it does release you can't play as a merchant Republic and hordes are played as tribals. But you can reform you religion, there are more provinces so they have been taking the best of what has been in CK2 before hand as much as they can.
CK3 has been in development longer than Imperator. But then Imperator iss a sequal to game with only the one expansion.
First Bannerlord, now CK3. 2020 will be a great year.

I'll be interested to hear people's views on Crusader Kings III. After its release on September 1, I'm wondering what you'll see as its strengths and shortcomings.
If anyone would be interested in writing, or co-writing, a review of CKIII for the Gamer's Gazette, you might be interested in this post.
IGN gave it apparently a 10.

I have been playing it for a few hours (got it yesterday- also had to use VPN as its currently banned in Australia as it hasn't yet passed the classification board).
First impression, CKII with mods is currently more diverse/many more things to do, etc. but CKIII has a much better look/atmosphere/aesthetically much more pleasing, in a few years with mods this game will be incredible...
But I need to play it more to make further judgment...
My first impression of CKIII is positive, I definitely recommend this game for folk who enjoy the medieval era type RPG/action games...
CKII players will recognise some of the music...it seems some of the original music/tracks have been included in this new alliteration & improved on IE. more base, extra lyrics/singing added to original tracks, etc. what nostalgia for CKII players

I have been playing the game since release and I have to say: it's damn good. Even though CK2 was a good game, CK3 blows it out of the water. CK3 feels deeper, more immersive, and more fun in the mid to late game. The only thing I don't like is the UI, but I'm sure they'll improve it along the way.

Modding CK3 is easy. Already on my first playthru I modded the game to suit my needs. I usually mod my starting character, starting county/duchy, and de jure distribution.
Boring setting? Then imagine the rest of the world was even more boring at the time. There are some cool mods in development on moddb and you can find something on youtube. Only that again, i dont know what you wont find boring.
