Default The Possibility of a New Reformation

I live in America and lately the Catholic Church has been doing some strange things. I do not know if this only occurs in America but Catholics are attending services on Friday and Saturday not Sunday. Not just that but my Catholic friend went to Mid-night Mass at four o'clock p.m.(16:00). Also, there are still sexual molestation cases against Priests. Finally, the Pope has been criticized by non-Catholics and Catholics for his words about Muslims and other stuff. With all of this stuff and probably more to still come is a new reformation possible? Someone is eventually going to get angry, it seems to be just a matter of time.

they are two to three very large reformations going on in the Christian world

one is the self interpretation movement which closely resembles the movement that encompassed groups like the Puritans in the 17th century
    it is commonly called evangelicalism

the other movement is the progressive movement
(female ministers/homosexuality/contraception/a general modernizing of religious dogma)

which has begun to spawn an anti progressive movement
(most evangelicals/many african/S.A. bishops/large parts of many american churches...missouri lutherans and episcopalian virginians are two of the most publicized/groups like Opus Dei)
which seeks to promote a hardline morality and total obedience to god approach

I go to Church sunday but my grandparents who are very devout (actually my grandpa was going to be a priest and my grandma was going to be a nun but they never took their vows for their own reasons) go to church Saturday nights now which is a new thing.

I dont think theres going to be a new reformation, if the pope keeps up excommunicating people like he did in Mexico City there may be protests, but the church has weathered much more controversial things than this in the past, just look at some popes from the middle ages. The molesting thing is unfortunate, but thats due to the fact that the church has been enforcing the vows of celibacy now, when they really didnt used to, a lot of the popes had kids and women they had been with for decades, and it was not uncommon to have a pope with one or two sons and make them cardnails

Pshaw. Who cares? I attend a Vatican I mass and that's that. Unless it is a return to that, the reformations mean nothing to me.

And they aren't services. They're masses. And people go to masses on Fridays and Saturdays primarily to adore the Holy Eucharist, or do a vigil Sunday mass.

And as for pissing off other people, I personally feel it's more than about damn time something like this happened. I'm sick of everybody being PC.

There hasn't been even one single moment in history when somebody was not unhappy with something .This means nothing .Especially what the other religions may have to say .

Why would you need a new reformation when you have tens of thousands of different Protestant denominations that appeal to virtually every point of view under the Sun?

And yes, the Pope was quoting a saying by the Byzantine Emperor Manuel Palaeologus in a completely innocuous and inoffensive context. The quotation however was taken out of context and blown out of all proportion.

If you ask me,the turks must be happy, that the Pope is not on the mind of old Catho who begun every speech of his in the Roman Senate with the words "Carthago must be destroyed" .
