    Default SS needs stronger rebels and REAL rebelling characters/armies

    If you add "Dismounted Frankish Knights, "Dismounted Mercenary Knights" etc. to the roster of the HRE, France and/or England and start the campaign with fully-developed citadels (due to high-tier units) you'll notice rebels (a good example is Metz) using those units rather than just spamming peasants and crossbowmen. In my opinion this is THE thing which most if not all mods lack. Strong rebels!

    Rebelling Characters with full stacks shouldn't just turn from 4 DFeudalK, 2 FK etc. into 2 peasants and 2 Crossbowmen. That's just not challenging. I want to make sure that the rebelling family member/general pays the price for betrayal. Let's meet him with his full army rather than the "remaining" rabble.

    We need rebels who are harder to beat, no 12 stacks of Peasant Archers in Jerusalem or 12 stacks of Turkish Javelin.

    Bring on the Raubritters.

    k, man, you already have other factions to deal with and ou want more?? If you want it hard, play templar without cheating, in VH/VH. I believe if you aren't pro, you ll die out pretty fast

    Ok, well, yes, I wasn't suggesting anything like highering the spawn rate on the campaign map but just expanding their recruit pools, and, including a lot of text-work which results in full armies able to revolt/rebel in order to make such acts more dangerous (I know that we can't just edit the ownership and copy the UI as in RTW, sadly) to your empire.

    In Vanilla 1.1 I had one of my conquering Crusaders, "Robert the Cruel" (how fitting) rebel and a nice army with him (Unhorse Knights, Crusader Knights, Elephants, DFrankishK). For more than 12-14 rounds he turned the Near East into HELL, destroying most of the Fatimid Caliphate's standing armies, vanquishing everyone in his path (the units were all veterans with loads of experience >_>). He even stopped the crusader attempt on Antioch. It was fun to watch (even though I suffered losses) and felt like roleplaying. I had to raise an army in England and travel all the way there to finally meet him near Damascus. It was truly epic.

    Hi Mike,

    I also agree with you that the real challenge is playing vh/vh against the regular factions, of course.
    However, some very rare heavy infantry units for the rebels could make battles against rebels more interesting.
    Surely I don't want to have too strong rebels...

    I dont mind the strength of rebels, its the spawnrate. The spawnrate makes you fighting 2-3 rebel battles per turn in the lategame because when you have like 40 provinces...They pop up all over the place.

    Hi Favre,

    Yes, you're right that the spwan rate is actually the most important point.
    But I think it could be great to fight against less, but more powerful rebels.
    A compromise would be that the spawn rate will be pretty reduced and on the other side they get some better/heavy units for their later armies...

    I would really like this. Also, would it be possible to have the Rebels seige more cities? They hardly ever do, and even then, they rarely try to capture the place. I think if you did these two things it would GREATLY help the rebel situation.

    Is there any way to adjust the morale for rebels? I think large armies of weak units with high morale would best represent a rebellion.

    Personally I dont like having to deal with rebels too frequently, but when I do I prefer it to be meaningful.

    well i think it need not more spawning, but stronger. Especially at the beggining, because they made some normal factions (such as my my dear Bohemia) like rebels.

    lol, i know , the units just spawns everywhere outta nowhere, it gets harder and harder as you get a bigger size empire

    I think the rebels are fine, i only fight rebels to gain experience for my elite troops, else i just bribe them off. The only problem is that they spawn soo randomly, and if its near a forest, they hide and you dont even know they are there. Instead of making them bigger and stronger it would be cool to make them do more harm to the land, obviously they foraged, so devestation should be increased and you should get a warining that there are rebels, like you have for earthquakes and floods, so you know they are there.

    I vote against having stronger rebels and real rebelling generals. If all the populations are happy, why would there be rebels?
