    Default How to stop my generals from dying old age

    Is there a mod/way to stop my generals from dying due to old age? The save/reload trick is just too slow on my PC.

    Thanks,

    Go into the descr_campaign_db file. You're looking for the following section:

    <family_tree>
    <max_age uint="90"/>
    <max_age_for_marriage_for_male uint="75"/>
    <max_age_for_marriage_for_female uint="40"/>
    <max_age_before_death uint="105"/>
    <max_age_of_child uint="10"/>
    <old_age uint="60"/>

    You see the lines I highlighted in blue? These are the ones you will want to change. Set them to something ridiculously high (say, 999) and your characters should never die. Mind you, I think you're going to be overwhelmed by far too many characters (as none die and more get born), but this should do the trick.

    Thanks, is there anyway to kill off characters you dont want anymore??
    The only acceptable pace is a suicide pace, and today is a good day to die.

    Of course the bad part about your king not dying is that you have to wait for the pope to die, just to get that excomunication revoked. In my current game, he became pope at 34 years of age. That would have taken forever, "luckily" my king died before pope called a crusade on me.

    Yes, I know, you can spend money to make the pope like you a little better. I don't do that, I hate giving money to him.

    Wouldn't the pope become immortal with this trick as well?

    This is one of the problems I had with Rome.

    Oh my..! Assassinating another faction's familymembers would take a millenium before you were to succeed of getting them all.

    Hmmm, I don't want them to never die... just not always around the same age... I want variety

    Sorry im not able to answer yoru questions but it seems some of you may be able to answer my questions -

    any method of increasing the rate at which children are born?

    how about a way of making them better (stars/piety etc) from the start/ coming of age?

    Also is there anyway to get more marriage proposals as im low on family members and none of them are married, all are around 25-40 and each bloody turn i get offered to adopt some insolent outsider into my royal family!

    Cheers for your help, it really is appreciated!

    hi, may i know what folder category that is? i checked under data but couldn't find that db file as well as going to Total War - Rome 2 Game\data\campaigns

    or is there another way to freeze my generals/king age? i tried 12 turns per year but its not working.

    You have to unpack the game first, also Rome 2? This is Medieval 2.

    Yes, the modifications are certainly interesting. But is there any way to save them without tampering with the code?
