    Default CPU overload

Hi, I got a problem with certain processes reappearing.

What happens is, I start my computer, play a bit of a game (guild wars in this case; takes up about 30-50 CPU)
and then the first time I minimize, there are some proccesses. I manage to turn them off, but after awhile they reappear. Occasionally they duplicate and start overloading my CPU while im playing, to the point where ctrl alt dlt doesnt work.

The processes are rundll.exe and agent.exe

    Any help?

rundll.exe is essential, leave it on you need it.

Note: agent.exe is also a process from Dell that gives the user an interface to monitor and administer the system. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference.

Note: agent.exe is also a process associated with the Forte Agent Newsgroup reader, this is a is non-essential process to the running of the system, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.

Note: agent.exe is a process belonging to Acronis Disk Management which protects your computer against Internet-bound threats such as spyware and trojans which can be distributed through e-mail or attack directly to the computer allowing unauthorized access to your computer. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.
I got this from the first hit of a Google search. Which 'agent' is yours? If yours is safe to turn off, disable it from startup by clicking on Start>run>type in 'msconfig'>go to start up and disable it there, only if its a non essential agent.exe!
There are probably other processes taking up CPU time. When the going gets tough, go to task manager, then the processes tab, then sort by 'CPU' so the highest is at the top. See what is repeatedly at the top, google it if its suspicious.

    Make sure it's not spyware.
Sometimes spyware programs call themselves "rundll.exe" so they look less suspicious.

rundll.exe should be located in the windows\system32 folder.
If it's located somewhere else then it's almost certainly spyware.

I second this. Do anti Virus and anti spyware scans.

After various attempts to fix the problem I simply used Speedupmypc Unfortunately Agent has been up to more problems. every few minutes I have an installer for paperport pop up and I track it to agent.exe. This is very frustrating and each time I end agent.exe(thereby ending the installer) it reappears later along with the installer.

Too many people think about things based on modern ideals!
500 years ago people just did what they were told or died at thier lords will, freewill is very modern!
