    Default need serious input...

how does this mod compare to SPQR...SPQR is the only mod i have tried and i would like to "shop" around and compare gameplay models as i have a need for a serious challenge...i have been playing SPQR since oct06 and really like the gameplay style there...i have read your readme in the sticky's and seen the amazing quality of the skins here, but i just request a serious candid comparison to the two games...i hope no ettiquette was breached in my question...thx greatly, hannibeau.............ps good job

i came from SPQR to RS....

i've not looked back since. All credit to LT, he's made a seriously good mod but when you play RS seriously you'll notice little differences that make RS oh so enjoyable to play.

DVK was a serious SPQR fan before he started creating this mod. I moved from SPQR to this first as a beta tester and then moved onto skinning and modelling. I love the SPQR style gameplay and battles so what we're always trying to do is give it that sort of challenge. SPQR was and is a great mod. Loved it!

What we're hoping to do is to take RS to a place somewhere between the gameplay/battles of SPQR and the graphics, skins and campaign goodies of EB/RTR.

So at least two of the team members were hooked on SPQR previously!

The other thing to say is that really we're only just started on the reskinning. The Eastern and Hellenic factions are currently undergoing a massive facelift and improvement, both in terms of quality (history and aesthetics-wise) of skins and models and also in terms of breadth of units available. After these factions we'll be working more again on some of the barbarian factions.

thanks for your quick responses...the descriptions and comparisons you guys gave have given me sound very promising...currently i am enjoying a beta campaign Lt put out between SPQR 6.35 and 6.4...it will take every bit of 1 1/2--2 mos. to complete the campaign then i am posting feedback for him and while playing doing the same...i work a week on-week off schedule, so when i am working i will be scouring your threads for all sorts of useful game info...i did the same before beginning to play "that other mod" and it proved very, very helpful...and, hopefully by then all your project works will be done...i feel it very necessary to find the two-to-three best RTW mods alive and save them as i feel in a year or so there will be less interest in RTW so less work on the mods...i intend to play this game (RTW) for several more years or until i have the money for a new computer...but, alas, you gents keep up the brilliant work and i will see you here from time-to-time...thx from your future fan, hannibeau

Whenever you start to play RS hannibeau im positive that you wont be disappointed with it! Easily the best RTW mod ive ever played in imho. What dvk and the RS team have done in such a short period of time is an amazing achievement. Fantastic looking units, fantastic faction selection with some never before seen factions. An then theres the challenge of the Free People in patch 10 now...these arent just your normal little slave/rebel armies that you can defeat without a second thought, these Free People are a major challenge and your ability to deal with there powerful armies at the start is likely to determine the fate of your empire.

Just wish i had more time to play it myself but im busy with exams at present
