I would say that bisexuality wasn't a problem in those days. It is a reknowed fact that Takeda Shingen had a lot of concubines and some young men as lovers too.

Homosexual means that the person sleeps with people of the same gender: a man and a man, a woman and a woman.

Bisexual means that they swing both ways; they would sleep with both men and women.

Hetherosexual means that the person only sleeps with someone of the opposite gender: a man and a woman.

Personally, I don't have a problem with either; as long as my hetherosexuality is respected, then I'll respect your sexual preference. The problem I usually have with some homosexuals (and only a very few at that) is that they can't seem to get that you are not gay, has never been gay, and that you will never be gay.

About homosexual/bisexual samurai: you have to judge them in the context of their cultural framework. Judging them under our cultural criteria is just plain wrong; especially if we're judging them under Western Judeo/Christian mores.

In the culture of that time, it was quite ok for a man to have sexual relationships with other men. In most cases, it was considered to be the ultimate expression of one's bond of friendship. Like someone mentioned in an above post, one of the reasons a homosexual relationship was considered to be a problem was if the samurai publicly loved another man more than he loved his lord.

Many warrior cultures, the Spartans being the most famous, espoused homosexual relationships as the ultimate form of expressing friendship and love between warriors.

I am hethrosexual, but even some people are bisexual because the devil tricked them. Is their sexual that describes that doesn't love or want to sleep with any gender. Even some people prefer to sleep with animals, that so disqusting and it bring aids.

True, and being gay never made a man weaker or less deadly in combat, especially if he loves the man he's fighting for and the one he's fighting next to!

It's important to remember that there really wasn't any such thing as a "homosexual" back in Sengoku Japan times. Men slept with other men at times, and they might even prefer it to women, but it didn't exclude them from marrying women and having children and the like. It was important to have a family, and I doubt that any man in these times ever completely avoided women. I've never come across anything in all my reading that suggests it ever happened, anyway.

As for Imagawa Yoshimoto... Well, perhaps, but I doubt any daimyo of the Sengoku period is more infamous for their liasons with the same sex than Oda Nobunaga and his young page Mori Ranmaru...
