Default Do you guys consider it cheating if I ....

If I go around and pillage a whole lots of the enemy cities just to weaken them but not conquer them.

    let me explain:
I am playing RTW, Darth mod, v8.
united rome campaign, VH/H. absolutely great game.
    here is the map:
    http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/8...ymaprv0cc6.jpg

It is about year 210bc. I have managed to conquer all of Italy (except sicily), gaul (up to the traditional border with germanica), Britannica (except ireland) and all of ibera.
the game starts at year 280bc, so it has already been 70years. meanwhile, carthage has totally finished off the numidians (the first to die). they own all of western africa easily and have the world's biggest army, and massive navies i do not dare challenge. and they own all the islands there, palma, sicily, corsica, etc. but luckily im at peace with them and we have trade rights.

the germans are doing alright. at war with them, but since i guard the rivers, they dont dare attack.

now the macedonians. my question is about them. they have grown quite strong. owning all of greece and macedonia and very wealthy and they have been at war with me for ages. they keep sending full stack after full stack of very good troops to patavium. i even built large stone walls and put a full stack there. i nearly lost the city when i had to fight off 3 full stacks one after another.

so out of my 3 neighbours, i only have mecedon to worry about. after 70 years of fighting, i wanted a break. some time to build up my cities and invest in them since most of them are on blue public order since most of the treasury was going towards the wars. but the macedonians are a pain.

so do you think its fair and ok for me to load up a ship with lots of artillery and ranged units, and sail them around greece and attack all the macedonian cities and kill everyone and sell all the buildings? this is surely damage their economy and they probably won't send full stacks my way for a while.

but i ask because, on one hand, i think it happened in history. for example the vikings were famous for raiding and getting rich.
but on the other hand, the AI does not do so. so it can be argued that its not fair since AI doesnt do it.
or do you think that since the AI is getting massive happiness and $$$ bonusses that its alright since they will quickly get back on their feet again with the $$$ bonus?

for a while i was thinking of doing the whole raiding thing around greece, then moving on to pontus and ptolemy and use all that money (which im sure it would be in 100,000s) to fund my so called investment into my cities.
but then im just crippling them and maybe ruining the game for myself by weakening my enemies in a cheap manner.

    what do you think?

First off, that sounds like an alright strategy to me. Instead of thinking of it as a tactic that the computer doesn't use, think of it as a tactic that you used before they did, lol.
Now, what is this "united rome campaign" you speak of? That map is awesome. Where can i get it and how do I go about installing it?

    Nevermind, I found it.

I would have to say that it is fine. Any person is history, has used any meathod to weaken/destroy his enemies, with out a long, painstacking process. So I.M.H.O. the strategy is fine and i will adapt it myself.

Use the best strategy you have got...in DarthMod you always have challenge.

You play 8? or 8.1 + formation pack?

A lot of time to speak...I have a lot of days to come here.

I see there are still many who download and play the mod and I am really happy bcs I do not support it at all. It is a finished product after all..no bugs and the best balance I was able to do for RTW/BI.

From all the mods that i have played this is the best one so far
I wonder how did u make the A.I to be that smart?
one more thing is that i was definitely surprised when i saw that you are Hellenas

About your tactics dear Persian Horseman when i know that the city i conquered i am going to lose it pretty soon without wanting to recapture it, or not having the possibility then i destroy all the buildings and it is a good plan to earn money and delay the opponent from creating new armies in that city.

i agree with the previous post . This RTW mod is just a classic masterpiece in my opinion.

Macedonia was,is and will always be Hellenic.
it is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.
