Default Removing senate panel from game

I was asking on the org about how to remove the senate panel and this is the response I got:

I put up files for doing that to vanilla - you'd need to do your own if you already modded game.

that also makes the SPQR slot available for use as a standard faction without hard-coded problems

This means we can elimiate the stupid senate tab ctd that a couple of people have complained about.

No, it won't Squid. You can eliminate functionality of the tab at the top, by the means which you describe..and which I have already done in an experiment a while ago. But you can't remove the 'Senate Offices' button in the lower left hand corner. It's hardcoded into the game, and every mod has this problem. It's the nitwits clicking the button when they know there is no Senate. I've seen the same discussion on EB's thread, RTR, etc. Even after the Senate is renamed and a totally different faction, it will still CD if you click it.

What I could do is change the tool tip for the button, so instead of popping up "Show Senate Offices List", it says, "Click this to CTD!!"......and in fact I have done so.

Some people just don't get it...they don't realize that it's the same in every mod, and they still do it when it CTD's the previous time, just to see if it's consistent.

Maybe also change the actual picture for the button to CTD maybe that will give them a hint.

LOL...yeah. Dang. It always amazes me that people even click the button when the Senate tab is greyed out at the top. But then they go back in and click it AGAIN just to prove it still does that.

Good idea...sort of a stylized 'CTD' button.

I was thinking (and I know this is a dangerous idea) but I remembered that none of the non roman factions have either the senate tab (greyed or otherwise) or the senate office button. Therefore the tab and button must be linked to the culture name (roman) which makes those two appear.

Here's where my thinking might get us into trouble, if we changed the internal names of the culture this should totally get rid of the senate tab/button. The culture could be changed to "Latin" or something this is different from the the vanilla name it should remove the both the buttons and the tab.

EDIT: The display name can still be "Roman", just the internal name needs to be changed.

I have had my suspicions, but now I'm convinced. You are a dangerous man, Squid. Downright dangerous! But you may well be right. I'll have to try that.

Edit: A monumental task, I'm afraid. It would require completely changing the directory structure of the UI because all the portrait mapping, buildings, ancilliaries, pictures, unit cards are all referrenced as 'Roman'.
For one little button...too much work to justify I think. Better to change it to a 'CTD' button.
