    Default Some questions

I've played almost all factions in RTR, but not Egypt, the faction I've always wanted. The problem is that the difficulty level is easy and my ambition doesn't let me to play with it. I rather play tiny kingdom(like Numidia) and struggle with goliaths. Of course the game is more interesting and demanding then. They have really interesting location of their provinces and army based on archers and mobile chariots.
So I'm curious if the power of Egypt can be weakened in 7.0 version?
Would it be a big distortion of history if u do that?

Next question is about Greeks. I've found VH difficulty level very interesting. At the beginning I was at war with Carthage on sicily, Rome on pennisula, Macedons at Balkans, and Egypt on those Eastern islands. So I understand that no one wants to have alliance with me. But after defeating Macedons, Illyrians and slowly taking pennisula, still nobody wants alliance with my wealth empire. Even faraway kingdoms with the same enemies do not want to ally. Why is that happening?

RTRPE(which is basically a port of RTR 6 to the engine of RTW v1.5) and RTR 7 are two different projects and have different developers.

Moved to the main RTR sub-forum.

You can't honestly expect them to distort the balance for just one player, you can always commit to doing certain things for making it harder on yourself, House rules.

I know that I can't expect it. I'm just asking how the Egypt matter regards to history. In RTW Egypt was easy to play too and I wonder if the difficulty was considered by modders. I'm writing my opinion because I think it can boost playability not only for me.

    What about Greeks?

I hear what you are saying. In RTR Gold I eventualy won on VH/VH with Numidia. After that playing a larger faction was almost no challenge anymore. What helped me was creative house rules. Some that I used that made the game more fun were autocalcing all battles that did not involve my faction leader or heir, limiting unit types in an army (ie no horse archer only armies as Parthia).

In this manner you can make the game more fun and challenging. You could also up unit costs in the files making it harder for you.

I'm playing Numidia too H/H and have africa on my own. It's quite boring now. The problem is that they are lonely and computer doesn't make beach landing.

Playing as Greeks is very exciting anyway because u always have enemy...big enemy. What about their alliances. Maybe Greeks were so proud of their nation that they do not bother allying with barbarians(non greeks).

Well, that can't be represented in the game, so the diplomatic issue is simply the poor diplomacy AI.

Playing on VH campaign difficulty you shouldn't expect anyone to make alliances with you (except maybe non-bordering factions in the first few turns of the game).

Regarding the Ptolemaics, I think they ought to have loyalty problems. Since RTR7 is built on BI, it might be possible to represent this by giving the Ptolemaic provinces a clashing religion/culture and restricting Ptolemaic ability to convert them to Hellenic.

While it is true the Ptolemies have not been spared internal strife (particularly after the Battle of Raphia), the native rebellions they had to put up with were not as formidable as, say, the rise of Parthia, the incessant rebellions of Eastern satrapies or the endemic instability of Asia Minor that plagues the Seleukids or the Thracian troubles, combined with constant struggle either with the Aetolian or with the Achaean league that the Antigonids faced.

So, I think the characterization of the Ptolemaic campaign as easy is not far fetched in terms of historicity.
