Good tactics with Portugal
What tactics do you use playing as portugal (or Spain, since they're pretty simila). I really like one tactic. It's to have a thin line of two or three units of merc spearmen (MC) and 4 units of Almughavars (A) behind them showering javelins. They can also protect the flanks.
--------MC--------MC--------
-----A-----A-----A-----A-----
What tactics do you have?

Re: Good tactics with Portugal
Why get any other unit when Jinetes are so awesome?
Honestly though, my early game armies are almost exclusively composed of Jinetes + Generals for "field" armies. I'll make an infantry-based army composed mostly of DFK and use that as an assaulting army. Almughavars are awesome too, and I use them to garrison castles to ward off attacks. I find that as long as they're not charged by heavy cavalry, they will perform as well as or better then mercenary spearmen.
Late game is totally different as Portugal's excellent Adventuro Pikemen and Arquebusier/Musketeer units make up a fairly signficant portion of my field armies. Add in basilisks and some DPK for an extra umph, and you've got yourself a model late-era army that will be neigh on invincible.

Re: Good tactics with Portugal
Yea, there's no good tactics when playing as Portugal.
Early game : Jinetes
Mid game: jinetes + aventuros
Late game Jinetes + aventuros + muskets.
