First of all, love your mod.

Secondly: is Chiv TW .95 compatible with multiplayer? And if so, in what way? That is to say, can those playing with Chiv for 1.6 play against those who have it modded over 1.5?

1. no, I am pretty certain that if you use BI 1.6 to play chiv, you can't play v.s. someone with RTW 1.5... just like you can't play BI v.s. RTW vanilla...

Otherwise, CTW should be multilayer compatible, except that in this current release, Brian didn't know he had to delete the map.rwm file, so in order to make sure your games are compatible, do the follwoing:

1. well, you might as well load it up, and see if it is compatible in mp first.

2. if not, then go to:
C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\chivalry\data\world\maps
then go into the "base" folder, and either:
A. copy your map.rwm file, and send it to your buddies for them to replace theirs with yours, and place it in the "barbarian_invasion" and "imperial_campaign" folders as well.

or

B. all of you delete the files and restart the game

3. this SHOULD work, but as its been a while since I've gone through this procedure, I am not sure. There should be no problem though in deleting the map.rwm files, so it should not mess up your game, hence if what I've told you doesn't work, then try playing around with it... in the end, you can always just delete your CTW folder, and reinstall the mod.

We are both using Rome: Total War 1.5 but we cannot connect to one another.
It says Incompatible Game Data in the listing and this is the error message I get when trying to join his server:

"Unable to join game - incompatible versions or data.

Incompatibility Status:

Incompatible data (ck:CC9A79C3:0)

Host exe: The Early Era (v1.5ck 7BED2546)
Your exe: The Early Era (v1.5ck 7BED2546)

Host mod: "chivalry" (ck:CC9A79C3:0)
Your mod: "chivalry" (ck:CC9A79C3:40001)"

Do you have any idea what this means?

We have tried deleting the map.rwm folder, that did not yield anything.

I'll keep messing around with it, but perhaps that error message means something to you.

BTW, I had RTW 1.6 with BI and he only had RTW 1.5, so I tried uninstalling BI. That was messy and I ended up uninstalling everything and having to delete the BI files from my Activision directory. I then reinstalled only RTW and patched to 1.5 before installing Chivalry.

However, I see that there is still a barbarian_invasion folder in the campaign maps folders. Could an incomplete uninstallation of BI be the issue?

We just did a fresh re-installation of Chiv and got it to work! Thanks for the assistance, drak. Your mod is a blast.

I actually hope to make a nice little movie out of it (that's one reason we needed multiplayer, so we could stage the events that we wanted in the video), if I can get a handle on the movie_cam cinematic editor, but I'm having some trouble figuring that thing out.

You wouldn't happen to know much about the movie cam would you?

Well, we played one match, restarted the game, and then the games were incompatible again with a different message corresponding to "Your mod". Not sure what the deal is.

UPDATE: Alright, I have determined that with a fresh installation of Chivalry TW you can play 1 match against an opponent with the same version online. Thereafter it registers your versions as incompatible. Why might this be?

yes, what DV described should work, as a long time ago, people had the same exact issues and results as you... I just couldn't remember where the thread was on SCC.

Well, however ... we have to make sure that the ever upcoming version 1.0 will have proper file-structures within the world folder, what we didn't now with the recent released betas ... lol.
