I hope that most of these wonders will really open up new gameplay avenues, with many making the player or AI manage religious unrest much more.

Al-Azhar university: Built by the Fatimids when they established al-Qahira, it is the second oldest university in the world after Al-Kairouan in Fez (Yes, in Fez, not in Tunisia). It houses a gigantic library, madrasah, and mosque and was a great center of Shi'a learning under the Fatimids, but really bloomed under Sunni rule. In a city of more than one million minarets, Al-Azhar is truly one of the most flourshed, most radiant, as is its namesake.
Ill post more later, but I wanted to be the first to post this one.
Constructed between 1227 and 1234 by the Abbasid Caliph al-Mustansir (1226-1242), the Madrasa al-Mustansiriyya is regarded as one of the oldest centers of learning in history. Students journeyed from all over the Islamic world to come and study theology, literature, medicine, mathematics, jurisprudence, and the Quran, as it was the first effort at one site to unify the four orthodox Sunni law schools, Hanbali, Shafii, Maliki, and Hanifi; each school occupied a corner of the madrasa.
Situated on the Tigris River, this brick, two-story, rectangular madrasa measures 106 by 48 meters and is organized around a central courtyard. Three iwans open onto the court while the fourth side leads down a long corridor off of which are three open spaces that functioned as an oratory. Other hallways and rooms extend from the court through pointed-arched entrances creating a complex that served student needs, including a kitchen, prayer hall, living quarters, and baths. Both the iwans and the arched doorways were framed with plain brick vertical and horizontal strips. The madrasa could be entered through a triple-door opening on one of its long sides while directly across from it another triple-doorway led from the courtyard into the musalla, or prayer hall. These entrances exhibited arabesque-sculpted terracotta and geometric patterned masonry work, featuring vegetal themes that recall earlier Abbasid and even Umayyad motifs.
he foundation plate it reads "this university built by our lord almustansir bellah our imam and the imam of all muslims.

I'll be honest with you guys. I'm more interested in new "general" buildings that can be built by entire cultures. The unique buildings and "wonders" are a great idea and I'll probably implement the more important ones (ie mecca, jerusalem, constantinople, baghdad) but they are much lower on my priority list.
I want ideas for common structure... say like a "harem" or a new religious structure for orthodox factions (monastery?). Stuff liek that.
In Georgia eats such two, one is in Kakheti, near Telavi ( that I show), and another as you have already told, in Lore, but Lore's "Alaverdi" is town, not church !Alaverdi (Armenian: Ալավերդի,) is a town situated in the northeast of the Armenian province of Lori.

aha, ok:I want ideas for common structure... say like a "harem" or a new religious structure for orthodox factions (monastery?). Stuff liek that.
To construct in Georgia chatedral Svetitskhoveli , it will add to Georgian and another chalcedonian (such Georgia, Greece and Russia) ortodox christian faction (but NOT for armenian, they are monophisite, Gregorian ortodox)
+10 convert to ortodox chistianiti
+10 happyness
+ 5 % population grow
+ 5 law
+ 5 popularity for faction leader
+ 1 authority for faction leader
+ 3 piety for faction leader
It later names (about XVI c.), also occurs from Persian, means " Allah loves " to my mind. . . if I'm not wrong.I was talking about THE MEANING of Alaverdi and not about church in Telavi or Armenian town in Lori.
Nevermind, I already can guess you answer, do not bother yourself.
in Medieval times, thet chuch's name was (and is todeys) st.archangels Michael and Gabriel . . .
In Middle-Eastern Cities during the middle ages, each neighborhood would consist of a majority of a certain races. For example, in Baghdad, there could be an Indian Quarter built. As for their effect, I'm not to sure. Maybe an increase to Public Order, maybe some troops from that ethinticy become available?
Another building that should be included would be a Bookseller, as these were buildings that'd often cluster near mosques in the center of a market. It could function like a minature academy.
By the way, I'm curious, did you implement my suggestion of making Pilgramge a source of income?
Awesome!
Do you plan on having a silk road income/resource as well?
