    Default Feudal foot knights

or how those are called , so whats up with them , as i told not once i play as Milan , which main strength is militias, okey they look sexy they have stats of elite units , they cost more than most militias , but cmon
im around 1270~ years , and i rly don't have any decent castle to check elite units ( if there is any ) stats
but so far.. feudal foot knights seems to be .. ehm pointless?

they have 1 attack more, and 3 defense less ? or 2 .. well they are weaker in general , compared that they are 60 and militias 75 in normal unit scale ,

it would be everything fine , if foot knights would be cheaper , and wouldn't have such long re stack time

now militia is cheaper , and always available ,
while i can understand why foot men at arms are weak , they were weak in vanilla too, they are cheap at least

i cant understand why feudal foot knights are , most javelin or any shooter on horse/whatnot animal seems to have old stats too which makes them rly weak compared to some units

feel free to flame, or point out what im missing here

But the spear italian militia are spearmen, obviously. AFAIK that means they get bonus against cavalry AND penalties against infantry. I think the it. sp. militia have 2 def more and 2 att less than DFK. Same stats overall, right?

OK, now go to custom battle and make 3 units of it. sp. militia against 3 DFK. Same formation (that is important), just let your units and the enemy units charge each other and wait to see what happens.

Against infantry, swordmen are better than spearmen, even with similar stats

Not in this game, if you read the post above it confirms the penalties against inf. i talked about. Spear bonus x gives bonus against cavalry but penalties against infantry.

Fighting one on one among themselves, DFK are better than armored spearmen or spear militias (even italian), and even with less soldiers per unit

IŽve read many post saying that spearmens > swordmens, but mostly they were talking about real life fighting and, as my knowledge about the matter doesnŽt go beyond common sense and videogames, i think iŽll leave that to the experts

    Feudal Foot Knights
    Attack:11
    Defense:16
    Morale:9
    Cost:510
    Upkeep:225

    Italian Spear Militia:
Attack:9, but is spear_bonus 8 so penalties against infantry, bonus against cav
    Defense:17
    Morale:5
    Cost:430
Upkeep:125, but free in cities that can produce it.

So ISM have 1 more defense, are better against cav, have more men and are free upkeep. But FFK have a higher attack, are armed with swords unlike ISM who have spears and so have penalities against infantry, and FFK have higher morale so will rout less easily. They're more expensive yes, but your getting a better unit.

    FFK > ISM.
