    Default Semantics

how many misunderstandings miscommunications are made because of a difference in personal semantics?

the way we percieve our language and words mean a great deal to how other people come to understand us ... what is the importance of semantics or does it have no importance at all?

    Default Re: Semantics

The difference between each person's semantic understanding is vital to how we communicate with one another. I've had many heated arguments that could have been much cooler and constructive had we understood eachothers sematics. So, yes, I think semantic differences/similarities are key to the direction of a conversation.

But, this is what makes language so intriguing. We all understand the same thing differently, but at the same time we understand it in the same way... very interesting stuff. IMO.

Semantics are very important to the understanding of words, how to use them, and how to understand another person.
