wanted anyone who is a taoist to post about your beliefs here and offer opinions on the work the tao te ching--- by "lao tzu" ( the fictiousness or reality of the character of lao tzu is also an interesting topic)

really i think the tao is the most important philosophical work in human history. it is at least in my human history :o

    any thoughts?

HA!!! TAO is my favourite food.

Good to eat but hard to explain and also not for explaination.

One thing you should remmeber: TAO is not religion or "philosophical work".

TAO is the way (to do) but not the "way" (to talk).

I thought you want to discuss the "Greater Good" of Tau Empire! Anyway, Taolism is particularly focus on the relationship between human and environment, that is all I know. Today, many Gods and Godnesses of Chinese are related to Taolism.

taoism intertwines quite well with buddhism and shinto-- in fact I dont think there is anything (the way) doesnt mesh with completely and create a more solid and fulfilling life :O

was lao tzu a real man?

Lao Tzu was real person, he was born during the Warring States period, China before Qin Dynastry. He was actually lived same time as Confucius, and these two actually met before.

Taolism, which reflects heavily in today's Chinese religions, focus on the relationship between human and nature. I am not really sure what it is but as ancient Chinese believed every nautral thing has a god or godness represent them, such as river god. It was kind of like what Caesar said the German, as the ancient German had "no God but worship natural things".

to me the tao talks alot about non-thought and action and how they relate to your happiness--- this is the most important lesson from the tao for me.
