    Icon2 the Nomads

i wanted to share some opinions about the nomadic factions (mongols, ilkhanates, temurits, Kypchaks and Seljuqs)

all this nations should share the same music theme.
The Seljuqs and Kypchaks will start with citys at the beginning of the game.
    But the others not.
I was wondering if it is possible to play one of this nomadic factions? like the Huns in Rome:TW (in the addon) you have no city at the beginning but you have a great army for only 4-5 rounds you must besiege and conquer a city before your great army dissapears...

i wrote in the temurits thread earlier that the temurit citys like Tashkent were very importand Citys for the Muslims. Many scientists and scholars came from that region (Bukhara, Samarkant, Tashkent).

I would like to know how the Bedouin will be implemented, and what role they will play in the Arab armies of the Gulf.

Music, as far as we know, is related to culture and not faction. As well, we are having some complications with adding new cultures.

Nomadic groups, like the Kipchaqs, Mongols, Ilkhanate, will probably be able to horde. Timurids should not, nor the Seljuks. And assuming we can create more cultures, what we will probably do is have a East Islamic Culture which the Seljuks and Timurids belong to, and which contain central Asian music along with Iranian. The reason is for the stronger Islamic influence on the Seljuks and the more Turkified influence on the Timurids.

By the time the mod starts, the Seljuks are very settlement-oriented and are not as Turkic in lifestyle as some of their cousins.

    Who are the Ilkhanates?

IrAr is right. There aren't exactly any "nomadic" faction in the game. The Seljuks are FAAAR from nomadic - maybe some of their soldiers, but not the empire itself. The only real nomadic faction is the Kypchaks.

ok but in the Dede Qorqut storys you can see that the turks in that time period still were nomadic and used some of their shamanic daily life style.

turkish nomads also lived during Ottoman rule. They were "forced" to be sedentary. We still have nomads (yörüks) in modern Turkey.

but i must agree with you mirage that the Seljuqs were not 100% nomadic we can't ignore the buildings in iran and anatolia which they have buildet.

Well Qarama, many Turks might have still been nomadic. But we're talking about the Seljuk state. That state was not a collection of Yurts. It was effectively like any other Persian Empire.. only ruled by Turks of the house of Seljuk.

Yes. With Kingdoms, if it's moddable, we might grant both the ability to convert (As the Lithuanians can in Kingdoms).

    concerning nomads its very simple

back in the late 14th century a famous islamic scientist/historian/religious scholar know as IBN KHALDUN formed a very interesting theory. his view on the rise & fall of empires was cyclic, being a constantly repeating process thriving upon the influx of nomadic tribes. nomads in his vision were 'pure', uncorrupted by civilisation, not weakened by 'worldly temptations', they were the ideal warriors. BUT, whenever nomads are deployed they'll eventually settle down and become corrupted, this leads to stagnation (after the rise) & eventually downfall. for example, the first arab conquests were based upon the nomads from arabia, then came the khorasani, then the turkomans,etc...

the original seljuqs had since long settled but the influx of turkoman tribes remained constant. only along the borders of the islamic world (transoxania) we have real nomadic "states", more like confedarations.

Arabic instrumental song should definitely be added. They are good song from the first Medieval games. Maybe you just should grab the music there.
