What do you do once you've installed a soundcard?
So I have a sound card arriving today but I am not sure what to do with the integrated sound once I've installed the sound card, or even, before I install the sound card. Do I need to uninstall or disable the on-board sound or what? disable the drivers? or just insert the new card and install the drivers?
I don't want the integrated sound interfering with my new sound card.
Thanks.

I'd say go to the bios and disable the on board soundcard, then install the card and drivers...that's how i did it

In theory the on-board chip and the sound card can be used side by side.
But when I install my Audigy2 with my on-board chip enabled on my new computer I got strange error messages when windows booted.
Everything worked, but the error messages were annoying.
So it's best to disable your on-board chip in the BIOS, and uninstall it's drivers before you install your sound card.

I do not recommend combining on-board sound with anything from Creative Labs. Disabling the sound card in the device manager doesn't seem to do it, though, so I'd do what these guys said and disable on-board sound from within the bios.
