How to install official 1.2 patch

Ok so you have downloaded the official patch, but have read many horror stories about failed or 3+ hrs installations.

Here are my tips.

1) completely uninstall mtw2
2) remove the sega folder from your program files
3) Download Ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/download/
4) Run Ccleaner and Click issues, then scan for issues.
5) Click fix selected issues and agree to back up.
6) Reboot PC
7) Re-run Ccleaner and repeat 4 & 5 to be sure.
8) Disable anti-virus software
9) Install mtw2
10) Install patch.
11) Go and make a coffee,have a cigarette etc...(est..15mins)

Yes you probably are thinking "oh my god why??!"
There have been numerous problems with people trying to install and getting errors due to traces of old files even after uninstalling.

Do the steps above and you should be a happy bunny.

I had problems with the installation of M2TW 1.2 as well...I had to uninstall the entire game and start over because it took so long. I ended up having to uninstall the game off my external hard drive and put it on my laptop. The only good news to come of this is that it will mean that I can take it on the road with me rather than having to be at home to play it.

I´ve tried as you tell in your post but the problem prevail. Second turn and one of the factions freezes. You can navigate the map but the cursor dissapear and there´s nothing to do.

If anyone has any other idea...

I am sorry to hear that, i really am at a loss.

I did notice today that the game didn't load up on the first attempt, but was fine after that.

There haven't been any problems during gameplay for me though and i have played 20 turns.
Looks as if it's ok for some and not for others as far as i can see.

If you followed my guide to the letter then i am at a loss as to why this is happening to you, maybe some of the pros like Lusted could get in on the act here.

Don´t know but I´m not the only one with this problem when updating to 1.2 as I see in these and other forums, but I´m bored of re-installing so I´ve erased the full game. Since that everything is really fine!.

I installed the MTW 1.2 after desinstalling and reinstalling the game. The good news is that it works on 1.2 compatible mods. I downloaded the Lands to conquer 2.3 mod which works very well.

However I have some bugs with my older save games on the modpacks I downloaded before the 1.2 patch was out. I can still play the saved games but I don't have the name of the buildings and units when I build them and I don't have the description of the units. I hope there will be more patch 1.2 modpacks to download.
