saw a quote from kant in another post thought i would ask--
Is enlightenment just thinking for yourself ?
or is it something more and if so what .

Depends whether or not you are speaking of the time of Enlightenment or the philosophy of Enlightenment.
The time regards the era of Enlightenement, the 18th-19th centuries, the fall of religion, rise of independant thought ect ect
The philosophy is pretty much exactly that you described.

No, Chaigidel it is not. It is about to learn to understand the world and other humans.
I made the post because you brought up "the autarc".
Well, you even understand yourself better when you dare to know.
But there is much more in it, if you start to think critical and look on moral issues from a selfdetermined point of view.

apparently enlightenment occurs when everything and everyone you know and love is taken from you until you are left at zero.

or in terms of gnosis; it is the moment when you arrive at an understanding of something which was previously unknown - at least to you.

of course zorgo the alien discovered everything you could possibly learn a few billion years ago, so nothing is new.
