Default You're dying - how do you spend your last days?

Having been diagnosed with a terminal disease and given only a short time left to live, how would spend your remaining time?

Meditation in search of inner peace? Making offerings to the gods? Tidying up your financial affairs? Borrowing money from fools and spending it on liquor, whores and hang-gliding? Buy weapons and go to seek honourable death in the wilds of a Third World country arbitrarily hunting drug-barons? Try to go down in history for all time by finding a bizarrely creative and interesting way to die?

Personally I see no reason why I should go into death alone and with anger still in my heart. I would make a list of all who have wronged me and go on a killing-spree, so that we could be at peace together in the afterlife.

But be sure. For this retard one has only two words - 'Second' - 'Opinion'.

Man given months to live to sue NHS

A grandfather is taking legal action against the NHS after spending all his money when he was told he had months to live - only to learn he had been misdiagnosed.

John Brandrick was told he had pancreatic cancer two years ago after scans revealed a 7cm tumour.

The 62-year-old, from Newquay, Cornwall, said he was told by doctors at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske that he only had a limited time to live. As a result he decided to enjoy what time he had left living a lavish lifestyle of hotels, restaurants and trips away.

Then the hospital told him that he was actually suffering from the non-fatal pancreatitis and not pancreatic cancer.

Mr Brandrick said that in the year that he thought he was dying he spent everything and now he faces losing his house.

"I was told certainly, by the doctor, that I had cancer and from that day I lived life in full. I was told I had limited time to live. I got rid of everything - my car, my clothes, everything."

The Royal Cornwall Hospital's NHS Trust said there is "no clear evidence of negligence" in the case.

"Whilst we do sympathise with Mr Brandrick's position, clinical review of his case has not revealed that any different diagnosis would have been made at the time based on the same evidence."

I'd spend my last days in meditation and prayer, so that I may be less stained with sin when I go.

Sin all your life, then pray towards the end and go to Heaven. I like your religion.

Anyways, I'd probably sort out my will, say my last goodbyes, all the mushy crap I've not done in my life.

I never said I'd get to heaven. I just said I'd like to be less stained, that's all. Heaven is not guaranteed.

better than one which promises you a good place in the afterlife for brutally murdering dozens of innocents and yourself?

I'd probably do that the old man did, spend lots of cash having fun, unless i had children etc that may require the money.

I highly doubt that after shooting them, they would want to become friends with you in the afterlife lol

I would try to put all of my personal assets into life insurance annuities in my wife's name, so that she would get the money without estate tax hassles upon my death. I would want to make sure my wife and kids are well taken care of.

For those of you who would want to make a "hit list" of people who have annoyed you and then use your last days on Earth to bring them harm ... grow up.

So... you would die giving dozens of people who loved those people anger in their hearts, and no way to get over it as you're already dead?
    That's constructive.

It may be boring, but I'd rather do what Thanatos said, even though I wouldn't expect to get into heavens gates for it. It beats killing people.

Other than that, Darth Wong has in my opinion the most sensible post here; take the time to get everything in order, and make sure that your family is okay after you're gone. After that you can go crazy all you want, but always make sure peoples memory of you is the best. And don't kill people.

Anyone see "A Walk to Remember"? Total chickflick, but it was really good. She has cancer, but won't tell anyone, and there's a group of kids who make fun of her all the time (which makes no sense, who in their right mind would make fun of anyone who looks like Mandy Moore? I mean, can you spell HOT? 'Cuz I obviously can! )
Anyway, one guy gets in trouble and has to spend time with her... it's been a while so I don't remember quite why, anyway, she says "anything is okay, you just have to promise that you won't fall in love with me" He laughs and says that won't be a problem, but of course he does. She cries, then dies. It sucks, but the movie is great, I highly recommend it!

Thumbs up for "A Walk to Remember" for it's emotional and subliminally apocolyptic message. Great thing to watch...
Actually, I think I'd watch that right before I die, after having been with someone I love.

Constructive? What purpose could there be in being constructive - you're about to die, you will have no benefit from it. If you build a house, it is to live in, not to die in - unless it's some sort of groovy Ancient Egyptian tomb.

Grow up? No time - death is upon you. Do what seems right - vengeance.

And as for taking care of your family: YOU'RE the one dying. They should be taking care of YOU.

I hope you are not being sincere with this line of reasoning. Because if you are, and you ever become suicidal, this is the kind of thinking that leads to atrocities like the Virginia Tech massacre, Columbine, etc.
