    Default Sharpened Stakes

i really like using sharpened stakes in battles, is there any way that i can give this ability to archers of other factions that dont currently have this ability? EI by modding a certain file or line? Thanks

Here I made this for you...
    http://files.filefront.com//;7451161;;/

it gives EVERY missile infantry, archers, crossbows, arquebusiers, handgunners, musketeers, aventuriers, all of them get to use stakes.

The only missile infantry that don't use stakes are naffutan, and javelins.

Make sure you are using the file first command line and then just put the file in your data folder.

thanks for your help. i tried a custom battle with Byzantium and was not able to set up stakes before the battle. They just had the flame ability option. I made sure that i picked a unit that you had edited as well. Any ideas?

make sure you are using the file first command line, or a modswitch.

Also make sure you're using a archer/crossbow/gun infantry unit.

Yeah also is there anyway my own stupid Knights can realize they shouldn't ride straight into them while they are moving around during a battle, can maybe we teach them that??? Having one of my best generals impaled on his own stakes is beyond embarrassing. Henry V managed to avoid this, why can't my own knights??? Geez.

If you WALK through the stakes, they do no damage, though it's hard to slow them down if they are pursuing through your stakes!

alternatively if you wish to add the ability to a select amount of troops that you desire.. simply go to the export_descr_unit (and xexport_descr_unit) file in the data folder, search for the unit name and next to attributes add this ", stakes, stakes"
Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Give a man a fishing rod... and he'll break it up for firewood, or swap it for a fish.

where would this be at "xexport_descr_unit" ? i can not find it. what i have done so far is to use the unpacker to unpack all. i edited the export_descr_unit file the way that i wanted (also used the one that ramtha sent me) saved it and then tried the game with no results. i downloaded this to setup a mod folder with all the files needed but i get an error when i use the shortcut that it make that links to the mod that it setup.

hmm perhaps the xexport file is only in lands to conquer mod (the mod im using) . well ive added those attributes to 2 scottish archer units and they both have the stake abilities now. what exactly is your problem? it doesnt seem very clear in your last post...

Am I the only one having a bug where archers (unmodded) can only deploy stakes when they're on top of a wall?

Is there a chance that provides using stakes during battle? I think my enemy used it when they are taveling on battlefield.

No, they have to be deployed before the start of a battle, unless there is some mod that has changed that feature. If you need to deploy stakes during a battle then you need to back your archers up with spearmen - place the spearmen behind the archers and move them in front of the archers before the cavalry charge. This is a much more flexible formation that allows you to attack, and doesn't rely on the AI being stupid enough to charge stakes.

In M2, the AI never uses stakes. Germanicu5's Battle AI allows it to use stakes during battles, even when routing.
