Cos mine's been going VERY slow, today.
Pc's are designed and built by people.
So, they do it randomly? Here's my situation.
A game that I play frequently suddenly got VERY laggy.
My McAfee subscription expired today.
I downloaded Robin Hood, Men in Tights. That's relevant, right?
run a spyware check.
your pc will slow down when its memory and CPU is at near full use, it will freeze at full use.
also after you have done a spyware check try defragmenting the drives.
go to my computer, right click on one of your hard drives, go to properties, go to tools, then click on defragment now.
Does defrag delete anything? Or mess my PC up? Other people use this.
my PC does that sometimes, just let it cool down. maybe because you played it too long,
Try defragmenting?
Nah - fragmented hard drives only increase loading times (unless it's really fragmented and the swap file is used a lot by the game) and that's a slow process - it doesn't happen suddenly. If your game is still laggy, open the task manager, check the performance stats to see if there is CPU load whilst the computer is idle. If so, switch to processes and sort by CPU load to see what's causing the load and end the task.
Might be anything - I remember having tremendous slowdowns due to some pop-up blocking firewall trying to block a popup from the .org.

Virus, spyware, malware, or perhaps your McAffee antivirus is being a system hog because it is expired.
Or perhaps your PC really is just having an off day and needs a good nights sleep...(...not).
You may have picked up a virus with your download, or it could be your anti virus software. Either way the most likely cause is something taking up the system resources. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and click processes, then see what processes are taking up a lot of memory. It may be your anti virus - they really devour cpu usage especially when you don't update them (makes you think you have a virus and then pay to update).
Quite often when a system starts to run down it's due to poor read/write times off the HDD, meaning you probably need to defragment, although the default windows defrag tool is pretty useless. Just keep your system clear of virii, adware, trojans etc, but over time these things build up and so every now and again you will have to completely reformat and reinstall your windows. It's the ONLY way, seriously, over time your install just gets old and winds down.
If, after a clean installation, you're STILL experiencing problems, it's likely that some of your hardware is starting to get a bit worn. HDDs are particularly bad for this, and often overlooked. Not many people think about getting new HDDs when they upgrade, unless they feel they need more space but quite honestly, your HDD can cause problems. It won't be as obvious as your other hardware, but that stuff tends to last longer anyway. Particularly it could be a problem if you have long uptimes, and a low quality HDD, as they tend to not last well under these conditions.
Sometimes the weather is a factor, particularly on systems that are a bit aged.

Do I analyze before defrag?
Call that a graph? It came up with lots of coloured lines, more to the left than the right.
AHHHHHH!!
The defrag tab at the bottom just dissappeared, but it still seems to be running (Processes in CTRL ALT DEL)... wtf??
