    Default Leadership Mod Questions

    Hello everybody,

is there a complete explanation of the leadership component included in the ExRM Mod? I searched the Forums for "Leadership Mod" but found nothing appropriate.

In fact it's quite simple, but there are a few details which I don't understand:

    1) There is a (pdf) "sheet" which describes the dependencies of the Leadership Mod graphically. The sheet says: "Legate: >30 years" but this seems to be not necessary. Any Tribune with 10 Years of Service can become Legate, no matter if he's 34 or 24 years old.

    2) The same sheet also shows an arrow which points from the "Legate Box" to the "Provincial Governor" Box, the arrow reads "6 Years of Service". Does that mean, 6 Years of military service or 6 years as a governor?

    3) Why does the military service counter of generals stop, once they are Consul? Okay, consuls never advance any further, but they could become Governor of Latium (or Province Governor). But this is only possible after at least 16 years of service (if i got got right^^) which could never be reached if a character becomes faction heir too early.

    4) Why do I have to switch Legion Ancillaries to receive the Field Army Ancillary? It could be to prevent "Super Generals" but this way I'll have to switch the Legion Banner to a Tribune (or a becoming Legate) and therefore meet with such a Character if there even is any. But my generals travelling through unfriendly, dangerous lands only to switch ancillaries and then getting hit by a major stack can be quite annyoing

If anybody doesn't know what I am talking about I could attach the sheet to this Post.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I put all the resources I could find on the Leadership system together in one resource, which you can download from here:

    Hope that helps,

    Hi Candel,

yes that helps a lot, thanks!

But I have one more, but very detailed question and hope you still have some time to help me.
My problem is, that my Legates never get promoted to Provincial Governors. Becoming Governor of Latium works fine, but to become Legatus_Propraetor seems to be impossible, but I don't know why.

I examined export_descr_ancillaries.txt and export_descr_character_traits.txt to get behind your promotion system but that even got me more confused since the character meets every condition for the Provincial_Governor_Quaestor triggers.

So please tell me if my examination of the Promotion System is correct:

To become Legatus_Propraetor a Legate needs at least 16 Years of Military Service, he may not carry any Legion, FieldArmy or ConsularArmy Banners because of their higher Subterfuge Levels, he must end his Turn in a Settlement with a governors villa and the Faction (romans) must hold more than 10 Provinces.

At the EndOfTurn the Provincial_Governor_Quaestor Trigger should fire and add the Quaestor Ancillary to the character retinue.
Then, at the start of the next turn he should meet the conditions for the Promote_to_Legatus_Propraetor trigger because the Quaestor ancillary adds the needed Subterfuge Level 5.
    Is that right?

But the Provincial_Governor_Quaestor Trigger never fires
And yes I have less than 8 ancillaries

I've never been able to get a provincial governor with a legate either. Just retired praetors.

When time permits, I'll take a look at my 4tpy mod and its Roman Leadership system. Perhaps when I updated it to be compatible with a new RTRPE release I inadvertantly changed something that is preventing getting a Legatus Propraetor.
