you can't, all of the files will become extracted.

Also you need to have ALL of the sound and music descr files in your data.

Also, Make sure you have the music folder both in your...

data/sounds/data/sounds/

and data/sounds/

Then once you edit the music file, and have done all of the above,
hit the pack file... but delete your music.dat and music.idx

also delete your event.dat and events.idx

then the new music.dat and music.idx will be needing to be named to that, it may have a name like "new_music.dat" rename it to just "music.dat"

For any people out there still figuring out why the 'data' folder in the sound folder is not made (I've had it too). Make sure you run the extract_sounds.bat in the sounds folder. If you run the bat file in the zip file you've gotten as a download, it won't make such a map!

Running files with dependencies within a compressed set up will end up a mess. ALWAYS unzip\unpack files before using.

Copy from the zip file the files xdix.exe and extract_all_idx.bat to your data\sounds folder (in your RTW install dir)
