What are your favorite sci-fi films? I'm not talking about the ones that the critics liked, but that YOU liked. Which ones can you just watch over and over again?

I'm tempted to say Star Wars, but my vote will definitely have to go to Aliens. The claustrophobic atmosphere, punctuated by intense fire fights, resonated with me.

"Firefly" was a great series, not just sci-fi, but great in general, and "Serenity" was a great movie. My favorite sci-fi movies of all time however, are between "The Thing" with Kurt Russell, and Predator, with Ahnuld. I could seriously watch either one all day for a long time without getting bored, and if I mixed those with movies like "Bloodsport" and "Commando", I could watch the same BS for virtually forever.

Star Wars - Alec Guinness, Harrison Ford, space battles and a light sabres…….what more could you ask for in a sci-fi film. A close second though is Aliens the sequel to Alien.

I'd say the Babylon 5 series and the spin-off movies.
Battlestar Galactica and Equilibrium were definitely very good also..

    2001: A Space Odyssey
The Day the Earth Stood Still
    Solaris (original)
Invasion of the Bodysnatchers (Goldblum is so young in this one.)
