Thread: M2TW Animations Released

  1. #1

    Default M2TW Animations Released

    I have been given the go-ahead to release the unpacked animations and .evt files for the modding community.

    Feel free to host these files officially. The download is around 60mb and unzips to twice that.

    Simply download and unzip to your data\ folder. It will extract everything to the animations folder with sub-directorys. You should be able to delete your data\animations\*.dat *.idx files and then run the game with this in your config:

    Code:
    [util]
    no_animdb = true
    This should run the game directly from the animation files, bypassing the need to re-build the pack files. Deleting the pack files without using the no_animdb command should rebuild the animation files from your animation source folder.

    Happy Modding!

    GOM and KE are working on the animation system at the moment, I have been told that no_animdb doesn't work in the retail build. However, if you delete the .dat and .idx files it will re-pack the source animations from the folder.

    You can see what they are upto over at the org here:

    Caliban,

    is it possible to change unit weapons in the battle_models.db file?

    Best to have a read of that thread on the .ORG. I think you can change weapons on units by using GOM and KE's model import/exporter.

    Has anyone found out if the RTW animations could be refitted into Medieval 2?

    These are simply the animations which are stored in the /data/animations pack files. There is no way to extract anims from the pack files, so to change anything animation-related, you must change these files, and get the game to rebuild the anim pack files from them.

    I have been trying to lay my hands on the fire_thrower animations from the crusades campaign, is there a possibility to publish these as well?
